Canadian Government Euthanizes ‘Young and Healthy’ 26-Year-Old

The death certificate of a 26-year-old man who was euthanized by the Canadian government, despite being described by his doctor as “young and healthy,” has been released, revealing disturbing details about his final hours.

Ontario resident Kiano Vafaeian died under Canada’s taxpayer-funded Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) program on December 30, 2025.

A copy of Vafaeian’s death certificate has now been obtained by author and anti-euthanasia activist Kelsi Sheren, revealing alarming new details about his “assisted suicide.”

Documents concerning Vafaeian’s death show that drugs used in the procedure were obtained through a Vancouver pharmacy before the euthanasia was carried out at a funeral home.

His mother, Margaret Marsilla, has fiercely opposed the decision to approve her son for MAiD.

After his death, Marsilla accused the doctor who approved the procedure of finding a “loophole” that allowed her son to be euthanized.

That doctor was prominent Canadian MAiD practitioner Dr. Ellen Wiebe.

Vafaeian traveled across the country to Vancouver, where Wiebe administered the lethal procedure.

Death Certificate Lists ‘MAiD’ as Cause of Death

Wiebe is a member of the Clinicians’ Advisory Council for the euthanasia advocacy organization Dying with Dignity Canada and a professor at the University of British Columbia.

She has become one of Canada’s most prominent practitioners of MAiD.

Right to Life UK reported in 2023 that Wiebe had administered MAiD to more than 400 patients.

In footage obtained by The New Atlantis, Wiebe described performing euthanasia as “the most rewarding work we’ve ever done.”

Before his death in December, Vafaeian filled several prescriptions at Macdonald’s Prescriptions Ltd. in Vancouver.

The drugs were subsequently used during his assisted death.

The prescriptions reportedly included “Midazolam injection, Propofol injection, Rocuronium bromide injection, Bupivacaine injection, a line item labeled ‘1 MAID’.”

The medications have conventional medical purposes but can be combined as part of Canada’s MAiD protocol.

“Midazolam is used to sedate,” Sheren explained.

“Propofol induces deep anesthesia.

“Rocuronium causes paralysis and respiratory arrest.

“Bupivacaine may be used in certain protocols.”

Vafaeian reportedly paid hundreds of dollars for the medications.

The documents therefore offer a stark look at the mechanics of Canada’s euthanasia system, where drugs involved in assisted deaths can be prescribed and dispensed through the pharmaceutical system.

But another detail revealed by the records is even more striking.

Vafaeian did not die in a hospital or Wiebe’s medical office.

He was euthanized at Koru Cremation, a funeral home in Vancouver.

He reportedly paid approximately $300 to $495 to use the facility.

His death certificate lists the cause of death simply as “MAiD.”

It also records underlying conditions including blindness and diabetes.

Mother Had Previously Fought to Keep Son Alive

Vafaeian’s case had already attracted national attention years before his death.

In 2022, when he was just 23 years old, Vafaeian sought to end his life through MAiD.

At the time, he had diabetes and had lost sight in one eye.

According to reporting by the Free Press, the young man was struggling with his circumstances and had no job, girlfriend, or clear plans for his future.

Marsilla said her son was deeply unhappy.

She said losing his vision in one eye in April 2022 became a tipping point that led him to pursue euthanasia.

Vafaeian had been scheduled to undergo MAiD through Dr. Joshua Tepper, executive director of Toronto-based MAiDHouse.

However, the planned procedure was canceled following intense media attention surrounding the case.

Vafaeian survived for another three years.

By the end of 2025, however, he had found another path into Canada’s euthanasia system.

He traveled from Ontario to British Columbia, where Wiebe ultimately administered MAiD.

His mother has said her son was approved on grounds involving “mental illness.”

The newly released death certificate now provides a chilling final record of what followed.

A 26-year-old man crossed Canada, obtained the drugs used in his assisted death through a pharmacy, and was euthanized by a taxpayer-funded doctor inside a funeral home.

And on the government document recording how his life ended, the cause of death is written plainly:

“MAiD.”

Canada Euthanizes ‘Young & Healthy’ Man Over ‘Bout of Depression’

Canada’s Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) program has once again ended the life of a young person, this time a 26-year-old man whose primary struggle was a bout of depression.

Despite an earlier rejection from a physician who deemed him too “young and healthy” for the procedure, he was later approved and euthanized under the government-run system.

The tragic news came from his mother, Margaret Marsilla, who shared the devastating update in a poignant Facebook post. She accused the healthcare system of exploiting a loophole to allow her son’s death.

In her words, Marsilla revealed that her son, Kiano, had been euthanized through MAiD. Previous efforts to access the program had been based on his Type 1 diabetes and resulting visual impairment, but those attempts were blocked. Ultimately, his death was approved on the grounds of depression, which his mother described as classified under “mental illness.”

“With a broken heart, I am sharing that my baby boy Kiano passed away … after being euthanized,” Marsilla wrote.

According to her account, the procedure was carried out under the approval of Dr. Ellen Wiebe, a Vancouver-based doctor known for providing both abortions and euthanasia services, and whom Marsilla referred to as “Dr. Death.” Wiebe has reportedly been involved in ending the lives of more than 400 patients.

Kiano was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age four, which later contributed to his visual challenges. As an adult, he battled depression linked to these health issues.

Four years prior, in Ontario, Marsilla had successfully intervened to prevent a scheduled euthanasia, securing help for him instead.

“Four years ago, here in Ontario, we were able to stop his euthanasia and get him some help,” she wrote. “He was alive because people stepped in when he was vulnerable and not capable of making a final, irreversible decision.”

In 2022, she launched a public petition to block another planned euthanasia at Toronto’s MAiD House, expressing shock at the initial approval.

“Can you believe it?” she wrote at the time. “The doctor literally has given him the gun to kill himself.”

Marsilla pleaded for meaningful support, including depression treatment, therapy, family involvement, and reasons for hope. She said none of these were provided.

“None of this happened,” she wrote. “Just an application that lasted for 90 days, and then approval and MAiD House! There was no attempt to connect with family members, no assistance to get proper help or medication for this young man, just an approval.”

On September 28, 2022, Kiano himself confirmed that the public outcry had an impact. In an interview, he explained that after numerous calls to his doctor, the physician “withdrew his role in my care plan.”

He then sought other MAiD assessors but was unsuccessful. One doctor directly told him he was “young and healthy” and not a suitable candidate for euthanasia.

Three years later, however, those protections apparently failed in a different province.

“Tragically, the Canadian system later allowed something very different to happen in Vancouver,” Marsilla wrote. “A doctor named DR ELLEN WIEBE AKA DR DEATH #2 approved his death based on mental illness.”

This occurred even though MAiD for mental illness as the sole condition remains officially barred in Canada until 2027.

“Somehow, DR DEATH #2 found a loophole in the system, one that now demands to be exposed so that no other parent has to endure this,” she stated.

Marsilla did not mince words about her view of the situation.

“This is disgusting on every level,” she wrote. “No compassion. No protection. No effort to save a life, only to end it. This is not healthcare,” she warned. “This is a failure of ethics, accountability, and humanity.”

She committed to seeking answers and supporting other families affected by the program.

“No parent should ever have to bury their child because a system—and a doctor—chose death over care, help, or love.”

Dr. Wiebe has previously been the subject of investigations and complaints related to her euthanasia work, including a 2017 case where she entered an Orthodox Jewish nursing home without full disclosure and performed the procedure on a patient, despite objections from residents (including Holocaust survivors). Regulators found no wrongdoing. Similar complaints from coroners and families have largely been dismissed.

Kiano’s case has intensified concerns about the trajectory of Canada’s assisted-death policies, especially regarding mental health vulnerabilities.

In response to Marsilla’s post, another mother shared that her family had left Canada entirely after seeing the direction of MAiD.

“We also have a daughter who struggles with mental illness,” she wrote. “When I saw and read around 2020 that they were considering this, we gathered the family … and moved back to Hungary with her to save her from this.”

She described how her daughter received mandatory treatment abroad, stabilized, found employment, and is now engaged.

“In Canada,” she wrote, “citing ‘personal rights,’ this would have been the end.”

This heartbreaking outcome serves as a stark reminder that, for some critics, vulnerability in modern Canada is increasingly met not with protection and support, but with the option—or facilitation—of a lethal injection.

A disturbing new pattern is emerging across the United States, leaving doctors baffled as a once-rare form of deadly cancer is now surging among young Americans.

U.S. cancer data has sent experts scrambling for answers as researchers admit they don’t know what’s driving the alarming spike.

The once-rare appendiceal cancer, which typically appeared in elderly patients, is now showing up in startling numbers among people under 50.

The shift is dramatic.

Recent U.S. research shows that Gen X and Millennials are now three to four times more likely to be diagnosed with appendix cancer than older generations.

Roughly one in three patients is now under 50, a complete reversal of historical trends.

Vanderbilt University epidemiologist and molecular biologist Andreana Holowatyj, who has led multiple national studies on the disease, found in 2020 that malignant appendix cancer diagnoses increased 232% between 2000 and 2016.

Every generation saw increases, but the spike among younger adults is the most pronounced.

The real danger is that appendix cancer is notoriously stealthy.

Symptoms are vague and include mild abdominal pain, bloating, and pelvic discomfort.

Doctors note that these are issues that most people chalk up to indigestion or other common gastrointestinal problems.

As a result, doctors often discover the cancer only after a patient undergoes emergency surgery for presumed appendicitis.

However, by then, early intervention is off the table.

There are no screening guidelines for appendiceal cancer.

Awareness is virtually nonexistent.

And to make matters worse, the disease behaves differently from colorectal cancer and doesn’t respond well to standard chemotherapy.

Despite the alarming rise, experts still don’t know why it’s happening.

Doctors openly acknowledge they’re baffled as researchers scramble to identify what’s driving the trend.

Holowatyj and others have floated a list of possible culprits, but no definitive answers.

Among the potential contributors:

• Lifestyle shifts: ultra-processed foods, alcohol, sleep disruption, declining physical activity

• Environmental exposures: plastics, chemicals, pollutants, degraded water quality

• Biological changes: inherited genetic variants, gut microbiome disruption

The unexplained surge fits a broader and worrying pattern:

Similar increases are being documented in other gastrointestinal cancers, including colorectal, bile duct, and pancreatic, especially among younger adults.

Researchers warn that this growing crisis cannot be ignored.

They are calling for urgent, targeted studies to determine who is most at risk and what environmental or lifestyle factors might be contributing.

Early detection could dramatically change survival outcomes, but right now, the tools simply don’t exist.

Until more answers emerge, doctors are urging younger adults to take persistent digestive symptoms seriously.

Even mild or recurring abdominal issues should be evaluated rather than dismissed.

The spike is real, the trend is accelerating, and for now, the cause remains a mystery.

Young Britons increasingly view the internet as a bad thing

An Ofcom survey published at the end of November shows that 18-34-year-olds in the UK are increasingly seeing life online as bad for society and their mental health.

Despite their increasingly negative view of the internet, young adults in the UK spend significantly more personal time online than older age groups.

Faith in the Internet is Fading Among Young Brits

Young Brits are souring on the internet, with increasing numbers seeing it as damaging to society and their mental health, according to the latest research published by Ofcom.

The UK’s communications regulator found that in June 2025, just a third of those aged 18-34 agreed the internet is good for society, down from 42 per cent a year earlier. While this fell for older age groups as well, it did so less sharply (34 per cent versus 38 per cent in 2024), meaning those aged 55 and above are proportionately more positive than younger people about the internet’s impact on civilisation.

The research also found that more young adults disagreed that the internet helps their mental health than agreed, reversing the previous year’s findings. In June 2025, 35 per cent of young adults disagreed that being online had a positive overall effect on their emotional well-being, while 31 per cent agreed. In June 2024, 28 per cent disagreed and 39 per cent agreed.

The questions were part of annual research carried out in the summer by pollster YouGov with 7,340 adults of all ages for Ofcom’s Annual Online Nation report.

Despite their increasing negativity, young adults in the UK spend significantly more time online than older age groups, averaging six hours and 20 minutes a day on personal (rather than work) devices, up ten minutes over the prior 12 months and much higher than the four hours and 30 minutes for all adults.

So why are many of these digital natives, born between Sir Tim Berners-Lee’s creation of the first web browser and server in 1990 and Apple’s launch of the first iPhone in 2007, losing faith in the internet?

One reason may be that their online experiences differ significantly from those of their elders, including more material chosen by algorithms than actively selected by users.

A section of the research on potentially harmful online encounters found that younger adults were most likely to have experienced these on Instagram, followed by TikTok. Overall, Facebook was the place people were most likely to encounter such material, but the likelihood of this increased with age. Among all young adults, 47 per cent of potentially harmful encounters came from scrolling a feed, compared with just 26 per cent for 55s and over.

Saudi Study Links Covid ‘Vaccines’ to Surge in Sudden Cardiac Arrests Among Young People

A significant new study has found that Covid “vaccines” act as a trigger for sudden cardiac arrests in young people.

The study, conducted by some of Saudi Arabia’s most eminent scientists, found that the Covid injections create a ticking time bomb in young healthy groups not typically associated with cardiac deaths.

Dr. Sumaya Al Helali of the Prince Sultan Cardiac Center (PSCC) in Riyadh led a team of researchers behind the study.

They conducted a retrospective case series via the PSCC, covering the period from March 2021 to May 2022.

The results of the study were published in the Hail Journal of Health Sciences.

The study aimed to observe vaccine-associated myocarditis and/or pericarditis (VAMPS), providing insights into clinical manifestations, management, and outcomes.

As Slay News has previously reported, myocarditis and pericarditis are forms of inflammation in and around the heart muscle, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Both conditions restrict the heart’s ability to pump blood around the body.

Myocarditis and pericarditis lead to blood clots, strokes, cardiac arrest, and ultimately, sudden death.

They are often symptomless and can go undiagnosed, acting as a ticking time bomb in sufferers who are unaware they have a problem, until it’s too late.

Cases of myocarditis, pericarditis, and related sudden deaths have skyrocketed around the world since Covid mRNA shots were first rolled out in 2021.

The new Saudi study offers further evidence linking Covid injections to these dangerous forms of heart inflammation, particularly among young, healthy cohorts.

All patients admitted during the study period with symptoms suggestive of myocarditis and/or pericarditis following Covid “vaccination” were included.

Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was utilized for confirmation, and statistical analyses were performed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences software.

The study included 20 patients with an average age of 27.9 years.

The group was predominantly male (70%).

The “vaccines” administered to the patients were Pfizer mRNA (74%), AstraZeneca (21%), and Moderna mRNA (5%).

Symptoms typically appeared within 3 days post-vaccination.

The most common presentations include shortness of breath (60%), chest pain (50%), and palpitations (40%).

Cardiac MRI findings revealed preserved left ventricular function in 80% of patients.

Late gadolinium enhancement was observed in 65%, indicating myocardial inflammation.

Diagnoses were myocarditis (40%), pericarditis (20%), and myopericarditis (40%).

Treatment primarily involved anti-inflammatory medications such as colchicine (72%), aspirin (39%), and ibuprofen (33%).

No fatalities occurred during the study period.

However, 30% experienced severe complications, including constrictive pericarditis and cardiac arrest.

This study highlights the occurrence of myocarditis and pericarditis following Covid “vaccination,” particularly among young males after the second or booster dose.

While most cases were mild and resolved with treatment, the potential for severe complications underscores the importance of ongoing surveillance and research into vaccine-associated adverse events.

Healthcare providers should remain vigilant for symptoms of myocarditis and pericarditis in recently vaccinated individuals to ensure prompt diagnosis and management.

A growing number of experts are now calling for “vaccinated” young people to undergo additional screening.

Experts Sound Alarm over ‘Shocking’ Spike in Strokes Among ‘Healthy’ Young People

Health experts have issued a chilling warning to the public over a “shocking” spike in strokes among “healthy” young people.

The “alarming” surge was identified in official UK government data.

The data shows that recorded cases of deadly strokes skyrocketed in 2023 and continued soaring this year.

In 2023/24, the data shows more than 12,500 British people in their 50s suffered the life-altering and potentially fatal condition.

By comparison, the figure stood at just over 8,000 in 2004/2005.

The increase marks a spike of 55 percent in two decades.

The trend far outpaces the 28 percent rise across all ages over the same period.

Experts said the “alarming” trends showed that the condition is no longer just a risk for the elderly.

Aside from age, an increased risk of strokes has traditionally been linked to obesity, stress, poor diet, and sedentary lifestyles.

It also comes amid a concerning trend of increasing rates of some types of rapidly developing cancers, specifically breast, lung, and bowel among younger people.

In response to the surge in strokes among young people, the UK’s Health Department has responded by blaming the lifestyles of the public for the issue.

UK Health Secretary Wes Streeting said:

“These figures are shocking, and even more so given the causes of stroke are largely preventable, such as high blood pressure and a poor diet.

“Prevention will always be better than cure.

“Not only because it means helping people to live well for longer, but also because a healthy workforce supports our growth mission too.”

Strokes affect more than 100,000 Britons annually — one every five minutes — claiming 38,000 lives.

This makes it the UK’s fourth biggest killer and a leading cause of disability.

Without prompt treatment, a stroke can result in death or long-term disabilities such as paralysis, memory loss, and communication problems.

Almost 800,000 people in the US are struck down each year, causing 137,000 deaths.

The problem occurs when the blood supply to the brain is cut off, killing brain cells.

The damage can lead to long-term disability and affect how people think and feel.

The most common cause is fatty deposits or a blood clot blocking arteries supplying the brain — known as ischaemic stroke.

This happens due to cardiovascular disease when blood vessels become narrowed or blocked over time by plaques.

These are made of cholesterol, calcium, and other substances that build up in the artery walls in a process known as atherosclerosis.

The other type — called hemorrhagic stroke — occurs when a blood vessel bursts in the brain and starts to leak its contents into the organ.

According to the fresh data from the UK government’s National Health Service (NHS), 12,533 people aged 50 to 59 had a stroke in 2023/24.

In total, there were 111,137 hospital admissions for strokes last year.

This was up 28 percent from two decades earlier when 87,069 were recorded.

Stroke numbers also rose by 42 percent among those aged 60 to 69, and by 25 percent for 70 to 79-year-olds.

NHS National Medical Director Professor Sir Stephen Powis said the figures show that strokes “are not just a risk for older people.”

Powis warns that everyone should be aware of the symptoms.

“There are likely to be a range of causes behind this alarming increase, but we know that lifestyle, and particularly obesity, poor diet, and lack of exercise, are among common factors that can increase risk of stroke and have a significant impact on cardiovascular health for people of working age in their 50s and 60s,” he added.

“Not only is stroke one of the biggest killers in England, it can lead to life-changing impacts for so many other families.”

However, Powis and other medical experts are refusing to address the elephant in the room.

As Slay News has reported, multiple studies have linked Covid mRNA “vaccines” to spikes in strokes as well as blood clots, heart failure, and sudden deaths, particularly in young people.

A major new study has also just linked Covid shots to surging reports of brain clots.
