For Carol Pavey, the final hours of a month-long European trip unravelled in a maze of lines in Lisbon’s main airport last week.

What began as a routine morning quickly turned into something else.

“I could see that it was a long line, but you couldn’t see the whole of it,” Pavey said in a Zoom interview with CTVNews.ca.

Pavey, a Canadian permanent resident travelling on a U.S. passport, said the lines were “snaking through … and seemed to be moving decently.”

That illusion didn’t last. As Pavey, who travelled with her husband, rounded a corner and descended a ramp, the full scale became clear: a sprawling queue feeding into more lines.

At the centre of the congestion were the new biometric kiosks.

“There was a huge bottleneck,” she said. “People were coming in, people were trying to get out, people were having difficulty with the machines – and there was one employee … trying to direct traffic.”

What is EES and how does it work?

Pavey’s experience comes as the European Union rolls out its new Entry/Exit System (EES), a sweeping modernization effort that replaces manual passport stamping with digital records tied to biometric identifiers like facial images and fingerprints.

The system, which began a phased rollout in October 2025 and was fully implemented on April 10, is designed to track short-stay travellers from non-EU countries — including Canadians — more accurately and efficiently.

The new system applies across the Schengen area — 29 European countries, excluding Ireland and Cyprus — that share external border controls, meaning travellers are processed under the same rules.

It is also used in Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Liechtenstein, non-EU members that are part of the Schengen area.

Biometric checks take place at airports, land crossings and seaports when entering or exiting the region. However, concerns are pointing to longer lines at airports and train stations.

According to the European Commission, the EES system has refused entry to travellers more than 27,000 times, including 700 people who posed a “security threat.” So far, 52 million crossings were registered since its initial launch last year.

CTVNews.ca asked readers to share their experience with the new EES system. Here’s what they said.

‘Extreme bottleneck’ queues

For Mark Leishman of southern Alberta, the return of a family trip through Europe nearly delayed at the departure gate.

After visiting France, Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg over his children’s Easter break, Leishman and his family arrived early — more than two hours ahead — for their April 13 flight home from Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport to Calgary. It wasn’t nearly enough.

What followed, he says, was a trial of lines: first to access the gates, then again for passport checks, then yet another queue to exit the European Union. Families with children were funnelled into separate lines from adults, but the distinction offered little relief.

At times, hundreds of passengers were left waiting as only a handful of border booths were staffed, creating what Leishman described as an “extreme bottleneck.”

“We were seconds from missing our flight,” Leishman said, recounting how the family had to abandon plans to claim tax refunds and instead focus on navigating the maze of checkpoints.

After finally clearing passport control — without any biometric data being collected — the family still faced another slow-moving security line. With just 20 minutes to departure, they sprinted through the terminal before being escorted by a waiting WestJet agent to their gate, boarding last.

“Thankfully they waited,” Leishman said. “But they could have just as easily have left us.”

For families in particular, Leishman says the takeaway is simple: arrive far earlier than you think you need.

A test of endurance

Travelling back to Ottawa from Italy on April 13, Benjamin Agnes had to use the EES system which he described faced power issues.

Agnes said many people were sent to manual passport check.

“The system does not work fast enough, breaks down frequently, and they do not have enough scanners to match the amount of incoming/outgoing traffic during peak hours at airports,” he said.

On previous trips to Europe, Agnes said it took less than 30 minutes. Now with new rules in place, entry and exit combined takes nearly three hours, Agnes explained.

For one Canadian couple arriving in Rome, the welcome into Europe felt less like a routine border check and more of a two-hour test of endurance.

Touching down at Rome Fiumicino Airport on April after their Air Canada flight, Doug Kube and his wife quickly shuffled into one of two lines — what he described as “the mother of all line ups.”

He says the queue stretched so far it was impossible to see the end. After an hour of waiting, the Collingwood, Ont. residents hadn’t even reached passport control. Another 30 minutes passed before they arrived at the automated e-gates.

“As we watched, about one in every five people who scanned their passport were declined and had to walk to another line, I assume for manual passport review,” Kube said.

The couple made it through the biometric scan, only to face another step — a border officer who reviewed and stamped their passports before granting entry.

A new reality of flying

Eventually, Pavey says, her husband’s Canadian passport worked after multiple attempts. Hers never did.

“My U.S. passport never even registered after about 20 attempts on 10 machines.”

With time slipping away and no clear guidance, panic began to set in.

“I just said ‘We’re going to miss our flight,’” she recalled.

“At that moment they opened all the other gates … and we just walked through … straight to a human,” she added.

A border officer stamped her passport in seconds.

“I said, ‘My passport never did register with the machine,” and he said, ‘This is easier right?’ — chunk — and stamped it.”

After nearly missing their flight to Toronto, Pavey and her husband were left with more questions than answers.

“I don’t mind waiting in a line,” Pavey said. “But the amount of difficulty was out of proportion … and there was nobody there to assist.”

“It’s certainly going to make me behave a little differently at the airport,” she said.

MensJournal reported: Australia updated its advisory in June, flagging gun violence, civil protests, and unpredictable immigration enforcement. While its guidance remains at Level 1 (“exercise normal safety precautions”), Australian officials urged travelers to stay alert in crowded places like malls, transit hubs, and public venues. They also warned about the Visa Waiver Program, noting that U.S. authorities can deny entry without explanation.

A report by Oxford University and Imperial College London for the United Kingdom government details how in order to fit in with the legal climate framework of being “net zero” by 2050, all airports will have to be closed and all beef and lamb for human consumption will have to be banned by 2029 with extremely minor exceptions for travel.

The is exactly the goal of Agenda 2030 and the World Economic Forum’s “Great Reset.”

With countless countries already following the UK with initiatives like this including Canada, The United States, Australia, France, Germany and The Netherlands, there’s no doubt this is a global agenda for enslavement.

It means destroying the food supply and poisoning what’s left of it. Forcing everyone onto digital IDs attached to CBDCs which will determine based on your behavior through carbon credit and social credit scores what foods you will be rationed and how much energy you can use as well as how much you can leave your neighborhood.

Leaders in Bali are stepping up the Mpox screening process for all international arrivals into I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.

In the last few weeks, Indonesia has introduced new screening measures, including arrival forms and thermal imaging cameras; now, tourists must download the Ministry of Health’s smartphone app.

On the 18th of August, the Acting Director General of Disease Prevention and Control at the Ministry of Health, Yudhi Pramono, released a statement to confirm that all international arrivals at all Indonesian airports would be required to fill in a questionnaire form to be submitted at their arrivals terminal.

This was in response to statements issued by the World Health Organisation that declared recent outbreaks of Mpox as a public health emergency of international concern. 

Heryudhitiawan assured passengers that this was a preventative measure and that the thermal screening was not targeting travelers from any particular destination or demographic. 

It has been confirmed by the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) that it is now a travel requirement for overseas travelers to use the SatuSehat application. Sahu means one and sehat means health.

This is the same government health monitoring app that was used in the months following the reopening of borders during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a written statement published on Wednesday, 28th August, the Director General of Air Transportation, M. Kristi Endah Murni, explained: “The determination of SE 5 DJPU in 2024 is a guide for Air Transport Business Entities and Foreign Air Transport Companies so that every person (flight personnel and passengers) of foreign travelers who fly to Indonesia to fill out an electronic self-declaration form called SATUSEHAT Health Pass, as well as a guide for International Airport Operators to take measures to prevent and handle the transmission of Mpox disease at the airport.”

He added, “I have ordered the Director of Aviation Safety and the Head of the Airport Authority Office to supervise the implementation of the Circular Letter. All parties are to be able to carry out the work with full responsibility.”

The app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or the Google Store for Android users. The app is available in English.

Murni has issued further guidance to the aviation and travel industry across Indonesia to help prevent the spread of the virus in the country.

This guidance includes instructions to “Socialize and inform everyone (flight personnel and passengers) who travel abroad who fly to Indonesia to fill out the SATUSEHAT Health Pass electronic self-declaration form on the domain: https://sshp.kemkes.go.id.”

The circular letter also outlines the need for airport and airline staff to supervise tourists by” filling out the SATUSEHAT Health Pass electronic self-declaration form for every person (flight personnel and passengers) who travel abroad, which is done at the departure airport.”

The third and fourth instructions are focused on health professionals and travel operators but are worth noting.

Officials have instructed that authorities must “Coordinate with the Health Quarantine Centre if there is a problem in filling out the electronic self-declaration form SATUSEHAT Health Pass at the arrival airport; and coordinate with the Health Quarantine Center in the framework of efforts to prevent the transmission of Mpox disease in Indonesia.”

The Mpox screening measures for tourists visiting Bali are being implemented particularly quickly since the province is preparing to host the Indonesia-Africa Forum 2024 from the 1st to the 3rd of September.

In a separate statement, the Deputy Minister of Health, Dante Saksono Harbuwono, explained that the health screening measures are a method of ensuring everything continues to run smoothly for tourists and local communities in the province.

He explained that plans are in place for every eventuality. Harbuwono shared, “We and the Health Quarantine Center have determined the screening scenario, starting from the placement of screening tools, the PCR (swab test) room, and questionnaires to the process of referring to hospitals.”

He added, “After the scenario that we applied and tried to simulate today, we have determined the place where the swab test will be carried out, where the thermal scanner will be installed, and where the questionnaire is so that all can be identified correctly and not disturb other passengers.”

e-Passports are coming.  Google Wallet is rolling out digital support for American biometric passports and Apple Wallet is doing the same under the guise of Japan’s digital ID agenda.

Smartphones and mobile payment applications (“apps”) are poised to replace our physical banking cards, with services such as Google Wallet, Apple Pay, and Samsung Pay at the forefront of “revolutionising” our payment methods.

Currently, people can enter all their bank cards, passes, keys, tickets and IDs into each one of these apps and use them in different locations without needing to hold and carry the physical version.

Now Big Tech has its eye on travel documents.  In the words of Android Police:

Google Wallet is set to offer a new level of convenience. With the rising adoption of Google’s mobile payment service in the US and the recent addition of numerous banks, Google Wallet is not just about storing your financial information. It’s about making your wallet even lighter by allowing you to create an ID pass with your passport.

For now, the ID pass option is only available to US citizens, and it remains to be seen if Google will expand it to more countries. Moreover, it is not yet live on Google Wallet, but it should land on the app with the upcoming updates.

Google Wallet to support digital passports in the US, Android Police, 4 July 2024

Originally, the Google Wallet code stated that the digital e-Passport “isn’t an official ID and doesn’t replace your physical passport.” So why are they doing it?

They are marketing an e-Passport as a convenience.  But that’s just marketing. In reality, they are testing a system of centralised digital control while at the same time conditioning the public into accepting a digital passport.

It is the next step towards the merging of digital payments, digital IDs and digital travel documents.  As you can see in the screenshot below, once Google’s new feature is available in the Google Wallet, users can add their passports to create an ID pass. Additionally, they’ll have another option to add a driver’s license or ID in US states that support such functionality.

Tom’s Guide noted that digitised passports could in theory also be used for age or identity verification, like digital IDs stored in Apple Wallet, but Google has yet to comment on this possibility.

It’s not only digital IDs and digital passports that they aim to merge nor is the scheme restricted to the US.  As Biometric Update noted:

Google Wallet also added support for 29 more banks to its payment feature in June and is up to 170 added this year alone, indicating the focus remains on payments, for now.

Mobile driver’s licenses from several states are already available in Google Wallet, however, like Georgia, Arizona, Colorado and Maryland, so some Americans have already been using it at airports.

Google Wallet has also integrated access control credentials from HID Global.

In Europe, where member states are working towards launching interoperable digital wallets for all citizens, they will store national ID cards that function as travel IDs within the EU and are also being implemented for access to restricted content online.

The potential market, therefore, is neither specific to the US nor travel, but in theory could extend to include every application that people can present their passports for, including online financial services and government interactions. With no equivalent to the EU Digital Wallet, the Americas seem headed towards a system where digital IDs are served through mobile wallets provided by the usual tech giant incumbents.

Google Wallet takes next step with US biometric passports, Biometric Update, 8 July 2024

It’s not only Google that has ambitions of issuing e-Passports.  Apple Wallet has reportedly already begun building a similar capability into its application programming interfaces (“APIs”), software that allows two applications to talk to each other.  In a set of APIs to be used in Japan that have the potential to generate digital IDs based on biometric passports, it has been noted that the “JP” prefix in the API names is absent indicating they are designed for universal use and are not limited to Japan.

Digital IDs and digital passports are not the conveniences they are sold to us as.  The technology may fail and batteries may die, which would leave you stranded. Or you may find yourself in a spot that doesn’t accept digital passports or where internet connectivity is poor, intermittent or unavailable.  And, it is important to note that those issuing the digital ID and/or e-Passport are not government officials who are accountable to the electorate – they are being issued by for-profit privately held companies.

The digital system being built for our “convenience” is ultimately a system that is for their convenience and profit.  It is a system to collect our data and control our movements, transactions, speech and behaviour.  The aim is to ensure complete obedience to the faceless, nameless, unaccountable individuals who are in control of it.

Please note: We have deliberately referred to them as “individuals.”  At this stage in the rollout of their dystopian plan, it seems inappropriate to refer to them as people and much more appropriate to use the dehumanising term “individuals.”  Because they have already lost their humanity, the qualities that make the rest of us human.

For how long will Google and Apple’s digital control tools masquerading as a “convenience” be voluntary?

At what point does it become obvious to the majority that government officials are either collaborating with or losing the battle against a small group of oligarchs who have a god complex and ambitions to own and control everything and everyone in the world?

Do not comply.  They can only succeed if you comply.

Just a short post here because it goes so well as a follow-up to my previous article on the mentality of our globalist oppressors.

According to CNN Travel: “Holidaymakers should prepare to change their travel habits now, before this change is forced upon them.”

CNN reports that “The negative impacts of tourism on the environment have become so severe that some are suggesting drastic changes to our travel habits are inevitable.”

The cable news network cites a 2023 report titled A Sustainable Future for Travel, in which the globalists lay out their entire plan to limit our freedom of movement. They always tell us their plans. So few pay attention. Most people would rather live in denial and deception.

In this report, tour operator Intrepid Travel proposed that “carbon passports” will soon become a reality if the tourism industry hopes to survive.

What is a carbon passport? CNN informs us of that as well, writing:

“The idea of a carbon passport centers on each traveler being assigned a yearly carbon allowance that they cannot exceed. These allowances can then “ration” travel. … The average annual carbon footprint for a person in the US is 16 tons – one of the highest rates in the world. In the UK this figure sits at 11.7 tons, still more than five times the figure recommended by the Paris Agreement … the average global carbon footprint needs to drop to under two tons by 2050. This figure equates to around two roundtrip flights between London and New York.”

According to CNN, Intrepid Travel’s report predicts that we will see carbon passports in action by 2040. I believe that’s part of what’s called an “unlimited hangout,” where they dribble out parts of the truth mixed with lies meant to tamp  down any undesired response from the public.

In this case, they tell us they’re planning to shut down or severely limit air travel for the common man but then they say it won’t happen until 2040, which is 16 years off so don’t worry about.

According to the report, for emission reductions to have any meaningful effect, ticket prices would have to rise by 1.4% each year, discouraging some people from flying. This is the same tactic being used by the globalists to get people out of cars and get them to eat less meat. They simply conspire to drive up the prices of the behavioral actions they want us to avoid. Look at the price of vehicles today and the cost of insuring them, and compare those costs to just 10 years ago and you will be surprised at the difference. These costs have far exceeded the overall rate of inflation.

They are now telling us that their plan is to do the same with airline tickets.

CNN reports that some European countries are already beginning to take measures to reduce air travel, writing: :As of April 1, 2023, passengers on short-haul flights and older aircraft in Belgium have been subject to increased taxes to encourage alternative forms of travel.”

Do not think that because you don’t fly or no longer fly that you don’t have to worry about these developments. The limits on air travel are just one piece of the overall puzzle. They are working just as feverishly to destroy private vehicle ownership, shifting to autonomous vehicles that will be rented, not owned, and will be slapped with a per-mile tax. Never trust a globalist. Their ideal world is digitized, downsized, dehumanized, depopulated and generally feudal in nature. If they succeed in imposing their ideal system on the world, we will see millions starved to death by their war on food and farmers. Thank God the farmers in Europe have awakened to the real purpose of the climate scam, which is to destroy their livelihoods and their ability to feed the world. If these globalist scum succeed, most of us will not live to see 2040. And those who manage to survive in their dehumanized, top-down, control-grid society will be either rich or poor, with very little in between. This is a war on the middle class, on traditional values, on the value of work and the nuclear family.
