Explosive new evidence recovered from the remote New Mexico mountains where nuclear scientist Melissa Casias was found dead is raising fresh questions about the official narrative surrounding her suspicious death.

Investigators have found previously undiscovered evidence that suggests Casias was moved to the location where her remains were found after she died.

An independent search team hired by Casias’ family uncovered multiple items that authorities failed to recover after previously clearing the scene, fueling suspicions that critical evidence may have been overlooked.

Casias, a 53-year-old Los Alamos National Laboratory employee, disappeared from her Ranchos de Taos home on June 26, 2025.

She left behind her purse, keys, wallet, and both of her cell phones, which were later found inside the house after being factory-reset and wiped of all data.

Surveillance footage captured her walking alone along State Road 518 shortly after 2:20 p.m.

A drop of blood was also discovered inside her home.

Nearly eleven months later, on May 28, 2026, a hiker discovered her skeletal remains in the McGaffey Ridge area of Carson National Forest beside a handgun that her family says did not belong to her.

Missed Evidence Raises New Questions

Initial CT scans reportedly found no gunshot wound and no projectile inside Casias’ skull.

Investigators also recovered no shell casing from the scene.

The location itself has also drawn scrutiny because of its rugged terrain, requiring a demanding hike with multiple rest stops and sufficient water.

Now, an independent search conducted after law enforcement had already processed the area has uncovered additional evidence that should never have been left behind.

According to family attorney David Adams of Parnall and Adams Law, investigators recovered bones, torn and bloodied clothing, orange peels, strands of horse hair, shredded paper that may contain Casias’ handwriting, and a tobacco pouch.

Investigators believe the evidence indicates that Casias’ body was taken to the remote location by an unidentified individual on horseback.

“The family really wasn’t expecting to find any additional information… it certainly turned out to be something much, much more,” Adams said.

Adams questioned how the evidence could have been missed and highlighted the possible significance of the apparent horse hair.

“In my mind, when you see that, you kind of go, okay, well, I could see that you would need a horse to get her up there if you were moving a body, for instance, because how you would otherwise do that,” he said.

He also noted that Casias did not use tobacco.

Adams noted that the tobacco pouch was either used by a possible suspect or it reflects poor evidence handling.

“There becomes a question of a chain of custody,” Adams said.

“Could law enforcement have spat a tobacco pouch in the crime scene?

“I mean, certainly possible.

“I mean, that would be an example of just poor training.”

Family Rejects “Suicide” Theory

Casias’ family has consistently rejected suggestions that she intentionally disappeared or took her own life.

Earlier reporting revealed that she left home carrying only her toothbrush and thyroid medication.

One investigator previously described those items as “things that might indicate you’re planning to stay alive.”

Adams said the family retained independent legal counsel after identifying multiple red flags in the investigation.

The newly recovered evidence has now been turned over to authorities.

The Office of the Medical Investigator has still not determined an official cause of death nearly two months after Casias’ remains were identified.

However, the accepted media narrative has suggested that Casias took her own life.

According to Adams, the FBI has not contacted the family despite being directed to examine possible links between Casias’ case and other incidents.

Growing Pattern of Mysterious Deaths

Former FBI agent Ben Hansen has publicly assessed the Casias case as being roughly “80 percent foul play.”

Hansen has also raised the possibility that advanced technologies, including directed-energy weapons or voice-to-skull systems, should not be ruled out because they could potentially influence behavior without leaving conventional ballistic evidence.

Casias’ death has become part of a broader series of unusual disappearances and deaths involving individuals connected to New Mexico’s nuclear and advanced technology sectors.

The pattern first drew widespread attention after retired Air Force Maj. Gen. William Neil McCasland disappeared from his Albuquerque home on February 27, 2026, days after President Donald Trump ordered the release of classified UFO and UAP records.

Subsequent cases have included a NASA nuclear propulsion expert found dead inside a burned Tesla, a NASA-linked aerospace engineer and his family killed in a plane crash, the death of anti-gravity researcher Amy Eskridge after she reported alleged directed-energy harassment, the disappearance of JPL rocket scientist Monica Reza, and the disappearance of nuclear contractor Steven Garcia, who reportedly held top-level security clearance.

By mid-April, the documented total had reached at least eleven cases.

Former FBI Assistant Director Chris Swecker previously noted that administrative personnel at high-security laboratories often possess extensive knowledge of sensitive programs.

“It wouldn’t be the first time their administrative assistant has been targeted,” Swecker said.

Trump Administration Faces Mounting Pressure

Since the series of cases began attracting national attention, the Trump administration has released two major batches of previously classified UFO and UAP records.

President Trump has publicly addressed the deaths and disappearances, saying there is “not much of a connection” between many of the cases while pledging that a full report will be produced.

The newly recovered evidence from the Casias scene is likely to intensify calls for a more comprehensive investigation.

While officials continue examining each case individually, families and independent investigators argue that the growing number of unanswered questions and the repeated discovery of evidence outside official investigations deserve far greater scrutiny.

The Department of Energy (DOE) has invested billions in incentivizing domestic production of enriched uranium for the commercial development of advanced nuclear reactors, including $2.7 billion issued last month to three companies to build centrifuges and processing plants necessary to produce fuel for reactor cores.

Yet, a fuel crunch that could hobble President Donald Trump’s “nuclear renaissance” initiatives looms as soon as 2028, several experts warned during the two-day U.S. Nuclear Industry Council’s 13th annual Advanced Reactors Summit in Seattle that concluded Feb. 12.

“If America wants to lead in advanced reactors, we have to do the nuclear fuel here. Make no mistake about that,” Centrus Energy Senior Vice President Patrick Brown told more than 400 nuclear industry professionals on Feb.12.

“Unfortunately, we’re really building from zero.”

Right now, he said, less than 1 percent of the nuclear fuel that the nation’s 94 commercial reactors annually consume is produced domestically, and that is exclusively dedicated to the Pentagon. The nation’s commercial nuclear energy industry is “completely reliant on foreign imports” of enriched uranium, he said, primarily from Kazakhstan and Canada.

Those imports include up to 5 percent from Russia that won’t be available soon. In response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Congress in 2023 banned U.S. companies from importing Russian uranium. That ban goes into effect on Jan. 1, 2028.

Brown said with the global nuclear fuel market already constrained, domestic industry’s scramble to revive enrichment—a process American companies invented and once dominated—is now a race to have supply available to meet demand as new reactors come online.

Because that demand—spurred by the president’s May 2025 executive orders to license 10 new reactors by 2030 and quadruple commercial nuclear energy output by 2050—is likely to outpace domestic fuel production until the early 2030s, he said a timing shortage will emerge in 2028. 

“That’s when we’ll see that the problem is there’s not enough non-Russian supply” of enriched uranium to replace even the relatively small amount it now produces in a tight market where restrictions on one supplier impacts the entire market.

“Fortunately,” Brown said, the industry and the Trump administration recognize there is an approaching gap between burgeoning demand and static supply, and has deemed restoring domestic capacity to enrich uranium a national security priority akin to “a second Manhattan Project.”

Industry Must Respond

The nation’s domestic nuclear fuel supply chain got a $2.7 billion boost when the Department of Energy on Jan. 5 issued awards to three domestic companies to enrich low-enriched uranium and high-assay low-enriched uranium.

Securing $900 million awards each to build uranium enrichment plants are California-based General Matter in a former Paducah gaseous diffusion plant in western Kentucky, North Carolina-headquartered Orano Group’s Federal Services operation in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and Maryland-based Centrus Energy’s uranium enrichment plant in Piketon, Ohio.

Brown said unlike the array of demonstration projects the Department of Energy is sponsoring, such as the Energy Reactor Pilot Program that has 10 companies vying for federal funding if they can demonstrate functionality of their designs by July 4, 2026, enriching uranium is not a new process.

“We’re not here to do science experiments, right?” he said. “We’re here to go big or go home. We’re not going home. The era of demonstration is over. We are moving onto large-scale commercial production.”

Centrus is already licensed to produce low-enriched uranium and high-assay low-enriched uranium in its Ohio plant, he said. Its Technology and Manufacturing Center in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, is the only domestic manufacturer of centrifuges needed for the enrichment process. It’s ready to gradually scale-up production.

“We have the site. We have the facility,” Brown said. “We have the room to expand” at the Piketon plant, which is demonstrating with 18 centrifuges what could be replicated by thousands. “Our technologies are proven and are actively producing [high-assay low-enriched uranium] today,” he said.

The Department of Energy award is designed to induce a long-term “demand signal” for investors and utilities, he said, by assuring them there will be ample domestic supply of enriched uranium available should they incorporate nuclear power into their grid expansion plans.

However, Brown said, the Piketon plant and other projects nationwide are not expected to reach peak production until the early 2030s, meaning there could be more demand than supply until production can catch up.

While the Department of Energy funding is critical in seeding domestic capacity to be self-sufficient in producing nuclear fuels, how swiftly that can be achieved is now up to the industry itself, he said, encouraging operators to begin negotiating “off take” agreements with Centrus and others engaged in uranium enrichment so they can secure their fuel supply and processors can commit to ramping up with confirmed orders.

“This is the chicken-and-the-egg problem that [the Department of Energy] was trying to solve. They said, ‘Build the capacity and the advanced reactor development will come while we’re building it,’” Brown said. “That’s the message. So we need firm contracts to proceed to build further. So let us know. We’re ready.”

AI systems require significant amounts of power to operate, driven by the massive computational resources needed to process and analyse vast amounts of data.

So, will the owners and advocates of AI systems rely on “renewable” wind and solar energy as they expect us to?

No.  They are going to use nuclear power.

Why Does AI Require Significant Power?

AI’s insatiable need for power is driven by the complexity and scale of its computational requirements.

AI models are often trained and deployed in data centres, which are massive facilities housing thousands of servers. These servers consume a substantial amount of energy, equivalent to that of 30,000 homes.

AI inference, the process of answering user queries, relies heavily on Graphics Processing Units (“GPUs”). Each inference requires GPU processing power, which uses energy. This demand is expected to increase as more AI models are developed and deployed.

Larger AI models, such as those used in language processing and computer vision, require more computational resources and, consequently, more energy. These models have billions of parameters and rely on massive data sets, further straining energy demands.  And as AI adoption grows, so does the need for more powerful infrastructure to support it.

In an own goal for those eager to implement Agenda 2030 and its Sustainable Development Goals – such as those who eagerly signed the ‘Pact for the Future’, ‘Global Digital Compact’ and ‘Pact for Future Generations’ at the UN Summit of the Future on Sunday – the energy consumption of AI systems contributes to greenhouse gas emissions, so they say, and strains global grids.

In Bloomberg’s podcast below (audio only) published on Tuesday, host David Gura and Bloomberg reporter Josh Saul discuss just what the insatiable AI data centre power needs mean for local communities, energy prices and efforts to switch to “renewables” to combat climate change.

“The big tech companies have set ambitious impressive clean energy goals … almost to a company [they] have said, ‘By 2030 we’re going to be 100% clean energy for our data centres’. But it’s a difficult thing to do because data centres are on all the time, 100% of the time, so to match that to clean energy is hard,” Saul said.

We guess matching large energy requirements 100% of the time is hard to do with “renewable” energy, i.e. wind and solar, because it is unreliable and intermittent.

However, the solution is simple; label nuclear energy as “green” energy. Gura posed the question: “Do they, the tech companies, believe that kind of traditional green energy, do they think that green energy is going to be enough to make up the difference that they need?”

Saul responded, “Well everybody loves nuclear I mean nuclear has gotten so hot, like Joe Rogan talking about nuclear.”

Gura chipped in, “Bill Gates is talking about it now.”

“Everybody. Yeah, everyone’s very excited about nuclear,” Saul said.

Governments Declare Nuclear as “Green” Energy

Although nuclear energy in the UK has been reducing, the UK government has for a long time actively promoted nuclear energy as a key component of its “green” energy strategy. An article published in the House of Lords Library ahead of a debate in 2021 stated:

The Government has said that new nuclear power is an important part of meeting its carbon reduction target. While the Government emphasises its commitment to renewable energy generation, it argues that ensuring the energy system is reliable means “intermittent renewables need to be complemented by technologies which provide power or reduce demand, when the wind is not blowing, or the sun does not shine.”

One of these technologies, says the Government, is nuclear power. “Delivering new and advanced nuclear power” was the third of ten points listed in the Government’s Ten Point Plan for a Green Industrial Revolution, published in November 2020 and reiterated in the Government’s December 2020 energy white paper. The white paper listed offshore wind, nuclear power and hydrogen as key to decarbonising the country’s energy system.

In January 2024, the Conservative government announced plans to quadruple UK nuclear power by 2050, the largest expansion of nuclear energy in 70 years.

However, this is not the case in all countries.

In January 2022, while Germany was in the process of shutting down all its nuclear plants, the EU began planning to label energy from nuclear power and natural gas as “green” sources for investment, despite internal disagreement over whether they truly qualify as “sustainable” options.

The EU’s internal market commissioner Thierry Breton said the bloc will need to double its overall electricity production over the next three decades and that “is simply not possible without nuclear power.”

In April 2023, Germany shut down its last remaining nuclear power plant.

In August 2022, the US was divided over whether nuclear power is part of the “green” energy future. “The renewed interest in nuclear comes as companies, including one started by Microsoft founder Bill Gates, are developing smaller, cheaper reactors that could supplement the power grid in communities across the US,” NPR reported.

In April 2024, although Europe remains divided in its approach to nuclear power, delegations from more than 30 countries gathered in Brussels for the first-ever Nuclear Energy Summit. The summit followed an official call at COP28 in Dubai to accelerate nuclear energy alongside other low-carbon energy sources.

Meanwhile, particularly in the UK under the Labour government, unreliable, intermittent wind and solar are being pushed onto the public as their “green” future.

For examples of the “renewable” energy sources governments are pushing onto the public, you can read: ‘Ed Miliband: beating nimbys on green rollout a matter of ‘national security’’ for the UK and ‘Renewable energy’ from the European Environment Agency.  There is no mention of nuclear power.  Nuclear power is not being publicised as an option for the public.  Why is that?

Restart of Nuclear Plant to Power Microsoft Data Centres

On Friday, Axios reported that Microsoft and Constellation Energy had just unveiled a power purchase deal that would enable a restart of a reactor at Pennsylvania’s Three Mile Island nuclear plant.

“The plan to bring a plant associated with an infamous 1979 partial meltdown back online in 2028 blends two big energy trends. One is the voracious energy needed to power data centres, especially as AI grows.  The other is proposals to restart mothballed reactors, or delay closures, to meet rising electricity demand with zero-carbon sources,” Axios said.

The “two big energy trends” appear to be closely related and are mutually inclusive.

Technology companies are scouring the nation for power that is both reliable and helps them meet their pledge to fuel AI development with zero-emissions electricity – driving a nuclear power revival, according to The Washington Post.

“If approved by regulators, Three Mile Island would provide Microsoft with the energy equivalent it takes to power 800,000 homes,” The Washington Post said.

In a somewhat disingenuous statement, Microsoft’s Vice President of Energy Bobby Hollis said the deal is a “major milestone in Microsoft’s efforts to help decarbonise the grid in support of our commitment to become carbon negative.”

Constellation plans to invest $1.6 billion to revive the reactor.  Constellation sees nuclear energy tax credits in the 2022 climate law as crucial for the project.

Banks Back Nuclear Power

On Monday it was announced that fourteen of the world’s largest banks and financial institutions have publicly pledged their support for the development of more nuclear energy, aiming to triple nuclear capacity by 2050, as outlined in the ‘Declaration to Triple Nuclear Energy by 2050’, signed by 25 nations at COP28.  The Declaration refers to the Nuclear Energy Agency analysis which shows that a scenario where nuclear energy capacity is tripled by 2050 provides a feasible path to meet net zero, according to the Nuclear Energy Agency.

If nuclear energy provides a path to the much-touted “net zero,” why are governments pushing controversial “renewables” such as wind and solar onto the public? Perhaps “net zero” is a loose term that can mean whatever they want it to mean at any given time, depending on which part of the UN’s Agenda 2030 they are forcing onto the public.

The banks’ commitment to fund nuclear energy that was announced on Monday was made on the sidelines of Climate Week in New York City, where leaders from the global finance community, government representatives and industry executives gathered to discuss the role of nuclear energy in global decarbonisation efforts.  Climate Week is an annual event held in partnership with the United Nations General Assembly.

To use Globalist speak, the support of these major financial institutions sends a strong market signal that nuclear energy is not only essential for decarbonisation but also a bankable, viable path forward for sustainable finance.

Why has nuclear, in particular, become so popular with financial institutions?

As Power Engineering noted, “Driven by decarbonisation goals and projected load growth from an artificial intelligence (AI) boom, support for nuclear power has especially increased the last couple of years … Technology giants like Microsoft, Google and Amazon are significantly driving electricity demand, primarily through extensive and rapidly expanding data centre operations. In doing so, they’ve expressed interest in nuclear as a partner.”

Environment and Energy Leader confirmed the same: “The demand for reliable, clean energy continues to grow, particularly in sectors like data centres and artificial intelligence (AI), where electricity consumption is skyrocketing.”

“James Schaefer, Senior Managing Director at Guggenheim Securities, emphasised this trend: ‘We’re seeing an enormous demand for clean electrons to power data centres and AI technologies. Nuclear energy is clean, proven and safe – and it’s essential that we accelerate the shift from planned projects to operational plants’.”

What’s Going On?

What this all seems to point to is that it will be largely unreliable and intermittent “renewable” wind and solar power for the public use but the vast amounts of reliable energy required for AI will be obtained from what has now been widely labelled as “green,” “clean” nuclear power.
