Hebron is a forty-three-year-old man who is married with two children. He lives in Kishushe, a small village away from the town of Voi. His two children are in their teenage years, one aged eighteen and the other seventeen. Both are attending the same high school. While their children are at school, Hebron works on the farm and his wife works making and mending clothes.
Over the years of being a farmer, he had started to get interested in how he could help and be part of the community more. Starting a small herbal clinic has been a dream of his and hopes one day he can achieve this. The loan will be used to start a Moringa farm. Moringa is a superfood with growing demand globally. The seeds produce oil with medicinal benefits and the leaves are packed with nutrition. The loan will be used to purchase seeds, fertilizer, and pesticides, get adequate water, obtain farm management training, and hire a tractor to clear the land for planting the farm. This loan is a chance for something greater; a chance to pull him out of a life of threatening poverty. As a group leader, Everline is representing her group of 13 farmers in Chwele District in Kenya and is very excited to be working with One Acre Fund for the first time this year. The decision to join One Acre Fund was largely a result of Everline’s desire to have access to quality training and acquire new farming methods. Apart from receiving farming inputs, she is also purchasing a solar light as part of her loan, which is very exciting to her as she will now be able to reduce the consumption of paraffin fuel and, therefore, save more money. With the profits that she gains from this year’s harvest, she plans to send her children to school.

Everline and her group will receive a total of three solar lights as well as input loans of maize and fertilizer to plant a total of 6.5 acres. View her fund here: https://www.kiva.org/lend/1054829

We are happy to share their stories with you here.

Haitali (above) is from A. Jomi region. He is 51 years old. He is a good-natured and hardworking person who runs his own business. Haitali’s wife works side by side with him on the farm. For 15 years they have been cultivating vegetables and other melons and gourds on their plot of land next to the farm.

As you can see in the photograph, Haitali has used part of the land plot, and the remaining part is not yet sown because of insufficient funds. Haitali is requesting a loan to buy seeds, mineral fertilisers, and fuel in order to carry out sowing on the available land. He is hoping for help, and thanks you in advance for your support and understanding. View His fund here https://www.kiva.org/lend/1042381

This story will warm your heart. It was only a few months ago that I met a woman named Bethany, who brought to my attention a very special place in Tanzania Africa. There is a an orphanage there that was built by a man named Kristofa Kala.

Kris was an orphan to a single parent and at a young age. He knew one day he would help kids who were just like him. Kris is a very dedicated and driven individual who spends all his time and energy ensuring the children are fed, have housing, and ongoing education. Kris is also active in creating local small businesses and inspiring community involvement.

The Children of Africa Center supports 63 Orphans and Widows with food and water. Housing assistance is provided for all, while many kids are hosted at the center, it is only so large, that means building homes is an essential part of the work. Kris is the founder and the hands on director and organizer of The Children of Africa Center. Kris is only 28 but he started working with Community Based Organization in 2003. In 2008 he built the center and has been actively maintaining it since then.

Bethany has volunteered her time and talent to put together a fund raising campaign to help the children at the orphanage. She has her own small business in web design called Shamanic Dreams. Fix the World has teamed up with Bethany and Kris to help bring awareness to The Children of Africa Center. Currently they need to raise $4,000 in a short period of time in order to ensure that the orphanage does not shut down and to be able to buy food. It they do not raise the funds, all of the children and widows will be put out on the street.

This is a local and global effort, that helps connect real people like YOU to provide an opportunity to help someone like these kids in Africa. Please hear about all the details of their story in this one hour special edition of the Fix the World Media Show. And if you can donate to the campaign, you can do so here: https://www.generosity.com/education-fundraising/the-children-of-africa-school-fees-for-2016
