The UK’s public health watchdog has been accused of a “cover-up” after refusing to publish data that could link the Covid vaccine to excess deaths.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) claim that releasing the data would lead to the “distress or anger” of bereaved relatives if a link were to be discovered.

Public health officials have also argued that publishing the data could damage the well-being and mental health of the families and friends of people who died.

The Telegraph reports: Last year, a cross-party group expressed alarm about “growing public and professional concerns” over the UK’s rates of excess deaths since 2020.

In a letter to UKHSA and Department for Health, the MPs and peers said that potentially critical data – which map the date of people’s Covid vaccine doses to the date of their deaths – had been released to pharmaceutical companies but not put into the public domain.

They argued that the data should be released “on the same anonymised basis that it was shared with the pharmaceutical groups, and there seems to be no credible reason why that should not be done immediately”.

UsForThem, a campaign group, requested that UKHSA release the data under freedom of information laws. But the agency refused, making a number of different arguments including that publishing the data “could lead to misinformation” that would “have an adverse impact on vaccine uptake” in the public.

UKHSA also claimed there would be a risk of individuals being identified, despite the request being made for an anonymised dataset. After a two-year battle, the Information Commissioner ruled in the UKHSA’s favour, backing its refusal to publish the data.

Reform UK has committed to a public inquiry into excess deaths and alleged Covid vaccine harms.

Richard Tice, the party’s deputy leader, said: “We knew there was concern about excess deaths, which is why we called for an inquiry. Instead, the unelected quango UKHSA is involved in a scandalous cover-up of how and why people are dying.

“This is totally unacceptable, and the Health Secretary must overrule them. If we are not prepared to learn lessons about why people are dying, what sort of society are we?”

Ben Kingsley, the legal director of UsForThem, said the way the UKHSA had handled the case “reveals a desperation that this data should not, in any form, see the light of day”.

He added: “It is perverse for UKHSA to argue that this data should not be released because the public could feel distressed or angry if patterns or correlations were to be identified.

“You have to ask yourself why it is that the public are considered incapable of handling this data. It reveals a patronising mindset, which also characterised the pandemic response – ‘do what we say, don’t ask any questions, we know what is best for you’.”

Mr Kingsley said the Government’s approach appeared similar to the response to the infected blood scandal, in which thousands of people contracted HIV and hepatitis C from contaminated blood products.

“The infected blood inquiry published its report while this case was under way,” he said. “We learnt that for years and years the government didn’t think the public could handle the truth, so they kept it from us.

“Now we are seeing very similar behaviour from the UKHSA – we don’t know if the data would reveal any evidence of correlation, let alone causation, but we can see they are desperate to avoid having to answer that question in public.”

A UKHSA spokesman said: “Protecting patient confidentiality is of critical importance. Releasing this data presented a real possibility that it could be used to identify individuals, which could result in significant distress.

“UKHSA provided a carefully anonymised version of the dataset that removed the risk of identification. We welcome the decision of the tribunal to dismiss the appeal.”

Big Pharma giant Moderna covered up clinical data that showed toddlers suffering heart attacks and strokes during their COVID-19 booster trials.

In Late 2022, a preschool-aged child enrolled in Moderna’s KidCOVE clinical trial for a COVID-19 booster died of cardio-respiratory arrest. The death, which Moderna hid from the public, has sparked a heated debate about transparency, accountability, and the ethical responsibilities of pharmaceutical companies and federal health agencies.

Naturalnews.com reports: Journalist Alex Berenson, a former New York Times reporter, has raised critical questions about whether the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) knew about the death and why it has not been disclosed to the American public. As the FDA remains silent, concerns grow about the safety of mRNA vaccines for children and the integrity of the regulatory process.

The death of child in a vaccine clinical trial and its aftermath

The child, whose exact age was not disclosed, was part of Moderna’s KidCOVE trial, which tested the company’s mRNA-1273.214 booster, designed to target an early Omicron variant of COVID-19. According to Moderna’s report to the European Union’s Clinical Trials Register, the death was recorded as unrelated to the vaccine. However, the company has yet to publish the trial results on ClinicalTrials.gov, a U.S. government website where drug makers are legally required to report such data.

Berenson, who now writes for his Substack publication Unreported Truths, has been pressing the FDA for answers. “Did Moderna inform the FDA of the death, as it was legally required to do?” Berenson asked in a recent interview with The Defender. “Neither the agency nor the company has said, but considering Moderna published the death in its report to European regulators, it seems very likely it did also tell the FDA.”

The FDA has declined to provide a clear response. In a two-paragraph statement to Berenson, the agency did not acknowledge the death or deny that it occurred. This lack of transparency has fueled speculation about what the FDA knew and when.

The broader context: mRNA vaccines are destroying children’s health

The death of a child in a clinical trial is rare, but it raises significant concerns about the risks and benefits of mRNA vaccines for children. By the time COVID-19 vaccines were authorized for children, it was widely understood that the risk of severe illness or death from the virus in this age group was extremely low.

According to Berenson, “The shots had significant side effects, so the only rationale for giving them shots — even theoretically — was to reduce transmission.”

One of the most serious potential side effects of mRNA vaccines is myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart muscle that can, in rare cases, lead to cardiac arrest. While the risk of myocarditis is higher in adolescents and young adults, the possibility of similar complications in younger children has been a point of contention among medical professionals and parents.

The FDA’s silence on the matter has only deepened these concerns. “If the death of a child in the most closely scrutinized vaccine trial in history could go unreported,” Berenson said, “people will rightly wonder what else is being missed — or covered up.”

Berenson has called on both Moderna and the FDA to disclose all relevant information about the child’s death. “For the FDA, which answers to the public, transparency is even more vital,” he said. His efforts have gained traction among lawmakers, including Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), who plans to subpoena the FDA for answers once Republicans take control of the Senate later this month.

“The FDA will not be able to stonewall much longer,” Berenson predicted.

Moderna, for its part, has not responded to requests for comment. The company’s decision to report the death to European regulators but not to the U.S. public has raised questions about its commitment to transparency. Doctors and parents, Berenson argues, have a right to know about such incidents, even if the company claims the death was unrelated to the vaccine.

A spring booster vaccine against Covid-19 is to be offered to people at most risk of serious illness from the disease to protect them this summer.

UK vaccine experts say it should be available to everyone over 75, care-home residents and anyone extremely vulnerable aged five and over.

Vaccinations in England and Wales are to start in early April, with Northern Ireland’s rollout from mid-April.

Scotland’s booster campaign will start in the final week of March.

The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) said hospital admission rates for Covid-19 in autumn 2022 showed that the risk of becoming seriously ill from coronavirus was noticeably higher in people over 75.

As a result, they would gain the most from protection from an additional vaccine dose this spring, with health chiefs warning against complacency.

Anyone who lives in a care home for older adults and people aged five and over who are defined as immunosuppressed are also to be offered a booster jab.

They include people who have had organ transplants or who have blood cancer, and those undergoing chemotherapy treatment for cancer.

It is advised that the booster vaccine be given six months after someone’s previous dose.

Prof Wei Shen Lim, JCVI chairman, said: “Vaccination remains the best way to protect yourself against Covid-19, and the spring booster programme provides an opportunity for those who are at highest risk of severe illness to keep their immunity topped up.

“This year’s spring programme will bridge the gap to the planned booster programme in the autumn, enabling those who are most vulnerable to be well protected throughout the summer.”

The NHS in England is expecting to offer the first spring booster doses to those eligible in April, and the campaign will last until late June. Wales has confirmed it will start on 1 April.

Four different vaccines, made by Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, Sanofi/GSK and Novavax could be used.

It’s likely most doses will protect against the Omicron variant as well as previous ones.

Since last summer, different versions of the Omicron variant of Covid have been spreading the most – the latest being Omicron BQ.1.

Children under 12 years of age will be offered a children’s formulation of the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine.

Dr Mary Ramsay, head of immunisation at the UK Health Security Agency, said Covid-19 was still circulating widely and there had been recent increases in older people being admitted to hospital.

“It is important those at highest risk of severe illness do not become complacent and I would encourage everyone who is eligible to come forward once the booster programme starts.”

People at higher risk of severe Covid-19 are also expected to be offered a booster vaccine dose in autumn 2023 in preparation for the winter.

Last autumn, frontline health and care workers, adults aged 50 and over, and some carers and household contacts were offered a booster dose, too.
