The death certificate of a 26-year-old man who was euthanized by the Canadian government, despite being described by his doctor as “young and healthy,” has been released, revealing disturbing details about his final hours.

Ontario resident Kiano Vafaeian died under Canada’s taxpayer-funded Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) program on December 30, 2025.

A copy of Vafaeian’s death certificate has now been obtained by author and anti-euthanasia activist Kelsi Sheren, revealing alarming new details about his “assisted suicide.”

Documents concerning Vafaeian’s death show that drugs used in the procedure were obtained through a Vancouver pharmacy before the euthanasia was carried out at a funeral home.

His mother, Margaret Marsilla, has fiercely opposed the decision to approve her son for MAiD.

After his death, Marsilla accused the doctor who approved the procedure of finding a “loophole” that allowed her son to be euthanized.

That doctor was prominent Canadian MAiD practitioner Dr. Ellen Wiebe.

Vafaeian traveled across the country to Vancouver, where Wiebe administered the lethal procedure.

Death Certificate Lists ‘MAiD’ as Cause of Death

Wiebe is a member of the Clinicians’ Advisory Council for the euthanasia advocacy organization Dying with Dignity Canada and a professor at the University of British Columbia.

She has become one of Canada’s most prominent practitioners of MAiD.

Right to Life UK reported in 2023 that Wiebe had administered MAiD to more than 400 patients.

In footage obtained by The New Atlantis, Wiebe described performing euthanasia as “the most rewarding work we’ve ever done.”

Before his death in December, Vafaeian filled several prescriptions at Macdonald’s Prescriptions Ltd. in Vancouver.

The drugs were subsequently used during his assisted death.

The prescriptions reportedly included “Midazolam injection, Propofol injection, Rocuronium bromide injection, Bupivacaine injection, a line item labeled ‘1 MAID’.”

The medications have conventional medical purposes but can be combined as part of Canada’s MAiD protocol.

“Midazolam is used to sedate,” Sheren explained.

“Propofol induces deep anesthesia.

“Rocuronium causes paralysis and respiratory arrest.

“Bupivacaine may be used in certain protocols.”

Vafaeian reportedly paid hundreds of dollars for the medications.

The documents therefore offer a stark look at the mechanics of Canada’s euthanasia system, where drugs involved in assisted deaths can be prescribed and dispensed through the pharmaceutical system.

But another detail revealed by the records is even more striking.

Vafaeian did not die in a hospital or Wiebe’s medical office.

He was euthanized at Koru Cremation, a funeral home in Vancouver.

He reportedly paid approximately $300 to $495 to use the facility.

His death certificate lists the cause of death simply as “MAiD.”

It also records underlying conditions including blindness and diabetes.

Mother Had Previously Fought to Keep Son Alive

Vafaeian’s case had already attracted national attention years before his death.

In 2022, when he was just 23 years old, Vafaeian sought to end his life through MAiD.

At the time, he had diabetes and had lost sight in one eye.

According to reporting by the Free Press, the young man was struggling with his circumstances and had no job, girlfriend, or clear plans for his future.

Marsilla said her son was deeply unhappy.

She said losing his vision in one eye in April 2022 became a tipping point that led him to pursue euthanasia.

Vafaeian had been scheduled to undergo MAiD through Dr. Joshua Tepper, executive director of Toronto-based MAiDHouse.

However, the planned procedure was canceled following intense media attention surrounding the case.

Vafaeian survived for another three years.

By the end of 2025, however, he had found another path into Canada’s euthanasia system.

He traveled from Ontario to British Columbia, where Wiebe ultimately administered MAiD.

His mother has said her son was approved on grounds involving “mental illness.”

The newly released death certificate now provides a chilling final record of what followed.

A 26-year-old man crossed Canada, obtained the drugs used in his assisted death through a pharmacy, and was euthanized by a taxpayer-funded doctor inside a funeral home.

And on the government document recording how his life ended, the cause of death is written plainly:

“MAiD.”

Just days after France legalized “assisted suicide,” the French government has now ruled that doctors can euthanize a conscious patient against his wishes by withdrawing life-sustaining treatment, even though he repeatedly says he wants to live.

The bombshell ruling has intensified fears that France’s euthanasia regime is already sliding toward a system in which doctors, not patients, ultimately decide who lives and who dies.

At the center of the case is Rémi, a man who regained consciousness after a devastating accident and now consistently tells doctors and his family that he wants to continue living after getting a second chance at life.

Despite his repeated requests, physicians at Paris’s taxpayer-funded Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital have sought to end the treatment keeping him alive, arguing it constitutes “unreasonable obstinacy.”

France’s Council of State, the country’s highest administrative court, has now sided with the doctors.

In one of the ruling’s most alarming declarations, the court stated that “the patient’s wishes are subject to the law.”

Conscious Patient’s Pleas Rejected

Rémi suffered severe neurological injuries after a serious accident and spent months in a coma.

Against the odds, he regained consciousness.

Although he remains profoundly disabled and dependent on life-sustaining treatment, he is able to communicate and has made his wishes unmistakably clear.

He wants to live.

His family has fully supported that decision and has fought to prevent doctors from withdrawing his treatment.

Hospital physicians nevertheless concluded that continuing treatment would merely prolong his life without any realistic prospect of meaningful recovery.

They invoked France’s Claeys-Leonetti Act, which governs end-of-life medical decisions for the nation’s socialized healthcare system.

The act permits doctors to discontinue treatment they deem medically futile or disproportionate.

The family challenged that decision through France’s legal system, arguing that because Rémi is conscious and capable of expressing his wishes, his desire to remain alive should be decisive.

The Council of State, a federal government body, rejected that argument.

The court ruled that the legal conditions allowing treatment to be withdrawn had been satisfied and upheld the doctors’ decision.

Critics Warn of Dangerous Shift in Medical Power

The ruling has fueled concerns that France’s newly expanded assisted-dying framework is transferring extraordinary power from patients and families to the medical profession.

For months, supporters of legalized euthanasia argued that the legislation was fundamentally about respecting patient autonomy and honoring an individual’s wishes.

Critics say the Rémi case exposes a glaring contradiction.

When a patient asks to die, personal autonomy is presented as paramount.

But when a conscious patient explicitly asks to live, that wish can be overridden if doctors determine continued treatment is medically unjustified.

Under French law, physicians make the final decision after completing a formal collegial review.

Family members are consulted but have no authority to block the withdrawal of treatment.

Even unanimous opposition from relatives is insufficient if the courts conclude that legal procedures have been followed.

‘A Gravely Serious Reversal’

The timing of the decision has intensified political controversy.

Coming only days after France approved assisted dying, opponents argue the case demonstrates exactly the type of expansion they warned lawmakers would eventually occur.

Grégor Puppinck, director of the European Centre for Law and Justice, described the ruling as unprecedented.

“This is the first time that doctors have decided to withdraw treatment, against the expressed wishes of a ‘conscious’ patient, thereby causing their death,” Puppinck said.

He contrasted the case with that of Vincent Lambert, whose death sparked international controversy after doctors withdrew life support despite objections from parts of his family.

Lambert, however, never regained consciousness and was unable to communicate his wishes.

Rémi’s case is fundamentally different.

He is conscious.

He has repeatedly stated that he wants to live.

Yet France’s highest administrative court has ruled that his expressed wishes do not prevent doctors from ending the treatment sustaining his life.

For opponents of the country’s new assisted-dying law, the decision represents what they describe as a profound reversal of patient autonomy, one in which an individual’s wishes are honored when requesting death but can be set aside when they’re begging to live.

According to a report from NBC News, artificial intelligence is dramatically enhancing the U.S. government’s ability to analyze vast troves of Americans’ communications and location data, prompting fresh bipartisan urgency to reform key surveillance authorities.

The long-running debate over Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) has intensified amid fears that AI could transform routine data collection into an unprecedented surveillance machine.

The provision, which allows warrantless monitoring of foreigners abroad, incidentally sweeps up Americans’ emails, texts, and calls when they interact with foreign targets.

Intelligence agencies can then query those databases without warrants. Lawmakers are now racing against a looming expiration deadline, with AI’s data-sifting capabilities adding a dangerous new dimension to the controversy.

“Imagine instead of doing a query with one person that you turned AI loose on these databases,” Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., warned at a recent press conference. “There’s virtually nothing the government can’t know about you.”

The former U.S. official claims decades of missing money may have funded something far bigger — a parallel system, a global reset, and what she calls a “breakaway civilization.”

In a stunning interview, Catherine Austin Fitts alleges that $55 trillion in taxpayer funds has effectively disappeared from U.S. government accounts over the past few decades.

According to Fitts, the missing funds stem from undocumentable Pentagon adjustments, financial crisis bailouts, and massive liquidity injections, numbers she says are so large they could build an entirely new civilization.

She argues the money may not simply be lost or mismanaged, but instead redirected toward a parallel governance, financial, and infrastructure system operating alongside the current one.

“If you were building a new system,” she explains, “you’d run both in parallel… then switch over.”

Fitts believes that’s exactly what may be happening now — and that the so-called “reset” may already be underway.

Fitts: “So what happened was, I was part of a group of people in the first Bush administration who got financial management laws passed that required audited financial statements and a certain standard of disclosure. And those rules went into place in the mid-90s and since then. And it’s because of those rules that we’ve seen disclosure that indicates that, one, they’ve never obeyed the financial management laws.

“But also, they have, you know, they have had undocumentable adjustments between 1998 and 2015 of $21 trillion. Now, when you add that to $29 trillion of bailouts during the financial crisis, you know, that’s $50 trillion. And then you add $5 trillion injected directly into the economy during the Going Direct, that’s $55 trillion. Then you can even add more for the quantitative easing.

“So, you know, it’s, it’s— I always say to everybody in America, it’s remarkable we’re still standing because you’re talking about, you know, it’s like a body with a tapeworm. And the tapeworm is, if you look at what’s being drained out is unbelievable. I mean, the numbers are just, you know, hard for most people to fathom. It’s not hard for me to fathom. That’s my business. But it’s really hard to fathom that, that, that muc

“And we’re not talking about money so that some people can have billions and Ferraris and fancy houses in the Caribbean. We’re talking about the kind of money that builds a whole new civilization.”

Fatseas: “Where is this money gone? Or it’s impossible to track?”

Fitts: “Give me access to the New York Fed and DoD’s accounts. You know, so we don’t know where I went. And I think, you know, conceptually there are many possibilities, but there is, a belief that there is such a thing as a breakaway civilization.

“And literally what we’re watching is, you know, if, if you have a company and you, you want to bring in a new system, what you do is you bring up the new system, you keep the old system operating, you operate them in parallel until you’re confident in the new one, and then you switch over, right?

“So I think what they’re— Part of what they’re doing is they’re literally building a new governance, management, financial structure for Earth, moving the money out of the old and into the new. And, and when they’re ready, you know, they’ll, they’ll shift everybody over into the new one. And that’s what’s happening now. That’s what I think the reset is.”

The Canadian government is considering plans to mandate euthanasia for mentally ill patients – including children – marking a chilling escalation in the country’s already controversial “assisted suicide” regime.

Eugenics advocate Jocelyn Downie, a longtime lobbyist for the euthanasia industry and professor emerita at Dalhousie University, made the case during testimony before Canada’s Special Joint Committee on Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD). Downie is demanding that the government approve euthanasia for mentally ill individuals in order to supposedly “help” them.

Lifenews.com reports: Downie threatened the committee by stating:

“What will happen, if there is an extension or an exclusion, is that people will die by suicide”

Downie is saying that the answer to suicidal ideation is suicide and people will die by suicide if they do not have access to euthanasia.

The threat that people who are denied euthanasia will die by suicide is a pressure tactic that is not true.

The Supreme Court of Canada accepted the suicide argument in Carter when it struck down Canada’s laws that protected people from being killed by euthanasia, but the Supreme Court was wrong.

If the premise that people will die by suicide if euthanasia is not available to them is correct then Canada’s suicide rate should have gone down after euthanasia became an option for people who are not terminally ill.

But Canada’s suicide rate has increased.

According to the Government of Canada suicide mortality statistics, there were 3,978 recorded suicide deaths in Canada in 2016, the year that Canada legalized euthanasia. In 2021, the year that Canada expanded the euthanasia law to people who are not terminally ill, there were 3,927 recorded suicide deaths. In 2023, two years after extending euthanasia to people who are not terminally ill, there were 4,735 reported suicide deaths in Canada, representing a greater than 20% increase from 2021.

I am not arguing that Canada’s increase in suicide deaths was directly related to Canada’s expansion of euthanasia, but I am saying that if Jocelyn Downie was correct, the suicide rate should have decreased, whereas in fact it has significantly increased.
Canada has had a massive increase in deaths by euthanasia.

Health Canada released their Sixth Annual Report on Medical Assistance in Dying in Canada on November 28, 2025 (2024 deaths) which indicated a 6.9% increase from the Fifth Annual report (2023 deaths).

The 2024 report indicates that there were 16,499 reported (MAiD) euthanasia deaths which was up by 6.9% from 15,427 in 2023.

In 2025, we know that euthanasia increased by 7.3% in Ontario and 11% increase in Alberta.

I predict that in 2025, the increase in Canadian (MAiD) euthanasia deaths was greater than 7% with the number of euthanasia deaths being approximately 17,700.

Clearly, there is no indication that the massive growth in Canadian euthanasia deaths has resulted in a lower rate of other suicides.

Suicide rates do not decrease in jurisdictions that have legalized euthanasia or assisted suicide.

In December 2020 I responded to a statement by Canadian Senator Stanley Kutcher who said:

in jurisdictions, such as Belgium and the Netherlands, where assisted death is legal, that the suicide rates have decreased. He then stated that there is no link between assisted death and the rate of suicide in jurisdictions where it is legal.

The problem with Senator Kutcher’s statement was that he was absolutely wrong.

In the article I explain that in jurisdictions that have legalized euthanasia or assisted suicide, there are no jurisdictions, that over a long period of time, have experienced a decrease in suicide deaths.

Further to that, in February 2022 bio-ethicist David Albert Jones published an article explaining that: In Europe, suicides rise after ‘right-to-die’ is legalised. Jones provided a comparison between European countries that have legalized assisted dying and those that had not legalized it and found that countries that had legalized assisted dying experienced an increase in suicide rates compared to countries that had not legalized assisted dying who generally had a lessening of the suicide rate.

In other words, Downie is using a false argument to scare monger Members of Parliament into approving euthanasia for mental illness alone. Downie uses court decisions to uphold her position but the Justices are not suicide prevention experts and in fact are wrong in their assumption that legalizing euthanasia will prevent suicide.

Minimally speaking, legalizing euthanasia does not lead to a decrease in suicide rates and the data suggests that legalizing euthanasia or assisted suicide has a suicide contagion effect leading, long term, to higher suicide rates.

Poland has been rocked by an alarming scandal after a heinous abuse ring involving the nation’s powerful elite was exposed, with critics warning the fallout could topple the highest levels of the country’s political establishment.

Political Firestorm Erupts

Przemysław Czarnek, a leading opposition figure and candidate for prime minister, has warned that the scandal could have major political consequences.

“This is a very serious scandal that will, in my opinion, sink the Civic Platform,” Czarnek said.

He accused political figures tied to the party of enabling environments where such abuses could occur.

It is believed that political elites who covered up the abuse are also involved in the shocking crimes.

Czarnek is pointing to politicians, powerful bureaucrats, and taxpayer-funded organizations engaging in what he described as “dramatic, criminal, anti-human actions against children.”

“This is a community of people who really have a lot going for them, financing these kinds of communities that commit these kinds of shameless, dramatic, criminal, anti-human actions against children, and against animals as well,” he added.

Members of the ruling Civic Coalition have pushed back.

They are attempting to downplay the political implications of the case.

“It’s difficult to hold someone accountable; it’s a situation that can happen to anyone,” one lawmaker said.

Politicians caught up in the scandal are arguing that the crimes were the actions of individuals rather than evidence of systemic failure.

Others within the party described the scandal as a localized issue involving a low-level former activist.

They are insisting that law enforcement acted appropriately and brought those responsible to justice.

A shocking pedophilia-zoophilia scandal in Poland could have sunk Donald Tusk’s party.

Though the perpetrators have already been brought to justice, according to the PiS candidate for the prime minister Przemysław Czarnek, the Kłodzko scandal could bring down the Civic Coalition (KO).

The politician believes that the ruling Civic Coalition has been attempting to extricate itself from the scandal which involved its officers.

According to MEP Tobiasz Bocheński “The Polish public would not have learned about the pedophilia and zoophilia scandal without internet freedom. The silence of a vast number of media outlets on this matter is terrifying. This is the loudest media silence in the history of Poland.”

Przemysław L., 45, was sentenced to 25 years in prison for sexual offenses committed against underage girls, bestiality, and recording these acts on film and in photographs. According to Do Rzeczy, his ex-wife, Kamila L., a former Civic Platform activist, was sentenced to 6.5 years in prison for failing to provide assistance to her minor daughter from a previous relationship, who was a victim of rape, and for complicity in animal abuse.

Przemysław Czarnek, the PiS candidate for prime minister, commented on the shocking case and its possible political consequences on Telewizja Republika on Wednesday.

“This is a very serious scandal that will, in my opinion, sink the Civic Platform. I spoke about the Civic Platform and their absolutely scandalous behavior three years ago, when there was a debate on the vote of no confidence in me. And I shouted from the parliamentary podium that these people should be feared, because these people from the Civic Platform, the mayors of cities from the Civic Platform, finance associations and organizations with enormous public funds—over a billion złoty a year—that simply deal with dramatic issues,” said the former Minister of Education and Science. “I mentioned programs that were simply perverted by their very name,” he added.

As Czarnek pointed out, “this is a community of people who really have a lot going for them, financing these kinds of communities that commit these kinds of shameless, dramatic, criminal, anti-human actions against children, and against animals as well, because we are dealing with zoophilia there as well.”

Politicians from the Civic Coalition also commented on the situation.

“It’s difficult to hold someone accountable; it’s a situation that can happen to anyone. Anyone can have a neighbor like that whom they know nothing about until the police and prosecutors get involved,” one Civic Coalition MP told Wirtualna Polska.

The interviewees emphasize that the case involves a former Civic Coalition (KO) activist and a very low-level figure. The police and prosecutors acted, and the perpetrators were brought to justice, so it’s difficult to speak of the scandal’s political context. “It’s a local issue, perhaps also highlighted by local disputes between the mayor and the Civic Coalition,” notes the Civic Coalition politician.

Word has surfaced that Prime Minister Tusk is offering clarification. “It’s more likely at the local level, not the central level, not from Deputy Marshal Monika Wielichowska; it’s hard to blame her,” says a senior Civic Coalition (KO) politician. Wielichowska supported Kamila L. when she was campaigning for the regional position. 

“This is certainly an inconvenient matter for Monika. She’s not handling it well,” the source adds.
