Viral video blows open patents turning vehicles into surveillance pods…

Guest post by @ModernityNews

A video exposing Ford’s dystopian patents for new vehicles has gone viral on X, fueling outrage over the accelerating war on personal vehicle ownership and freedom of movement.

The clip details in-cabin cameras, biometric scanners, lip-reading AI, emotion detection, and real-time criminal database queries – all deciding whether your truck will let you drive.

In the video, the narrator states “imagine there was an emergency outside the truck… An accident…I jump in this truck. But it won’t shift into drive. Why? Because cameras and sensors inside of my cab won’t let me shift.”

Ford can suck my white ass. pic.twitter.com/JjlTXPHZov
— Boston Smalls (@smalls2672) April 26, 2026

“It detects that my eyes are big. There’s some emotion. Some panic. And doesn’t feel like I’m fit to drive. That isn’t science fiction. This is happening. Ford just filed patents,” he explains.

He continues: “Ford actually has a series of patents down at the U.S. Patent and Trade Office that deal with sensors and cameras inside their cab. And if that sensor determines you’re not fit to drive, the truck won’t shift from park to drive.”

The patents extend deep into control. Biometric systems scan face, iris, and fingerprint, cross-referencing law enforcement databases before allowing movement.

“You wake up one morning, walk out to the driveway, climb into a vehicle with your name on the title… Before you go anywhere, before you’ve done a single thing wrong, your truck has already run your face through a law enforcement database. Ford’s own patent language describes this as ‘potentially useful for police,’” the narrator further outlines.

Lip-reading tech uses interior cameras and machine learning on vast mouth-movement datasets, plus inaudible sound waves. This enables not just voice commands in noisy conditions but also monitoring for targeted ads based on conversations.

Ford Pro Telematics also already feeds live driver video to fleet managers.

This corporate push dovetails perfectly with government efforts to restrict mobility. Just weeks ago, Massachusetts Democrats advanced Senate Bill S.2246, directing MassDOT to set binding goals for slashing statewide vehicle miles traveled (VMT) under “climate” pretexts.

The bill creates a new council to shove residents onto public transit, hitting rural drivers hardest who rely on cars for work, family, and essentials.

Critics see the pattern: hardware in vehicles to monitor and restrict at the individual level pairs with policy to ration total miles driven. The 2021 federal Infrastructure Act already mandates “advanced impaired driving prevention technology” in new cars by 2027 – AI systems that can shut you down. EU rules and GM biometrics accelerate the same trend.

Automobile kill-switches are coming soon to car dealerships near you.

I teamed up w/ Scott Perry & Chip Roy to defund this Orwellian mandate, but too many colleagues (Republican & Democrat) voted against us, so the federal mandate for every new car after 2026 is still in place. https://t.co/16KZ3NYq7h
— Thomas Massie (@RepThomasMassie) April 27, 2026

Federal law says new cars after 2026 must monitor drivers and shut down if the car disapproves.

Recent reports confirm Ford’s filings, including patent 20260095520 for the lip-reading system that activates in noisy environments like convertibles or trucks with open windows.

Public reaction on X has been fierce. Users called it a “dystopian nightmare… already HERE” and warned it’s “far beyond just Ford. It’s an industry problem.”

You still pay for the truck. You insure it. You maintain it. But the patents reveal Ford – and soon every automaker – keeps the keys through data, remote overrides, and algorithmic approval. Insurance scores your every expression. Cops get flags. Advertisers mine your talk. Blue-state politicians layer on mileage targets and transit mandates.

This is conditional freedom: drive only when, where, and how the system approves. Rural families hauling tools or visiting relatives become targets. Independent tradesmen lose flexibility. Anyone stepping outside approved behavior faces digital barriers.

The Massachusetts push and Ford patents form two sides of the same coin – elite control sold as saving the planet or saving lives. Older vehicles without the tech suddenly look like the last bastions of actual ownership. The surveillance state isn’t coming through your front door; it’s parking in your driveway with a corporate logo.

Rejecting these rolling spy pods and mileage ration schemes is likely the next front in defending property rights and mobility.

Every 29-year-old in France is to receive a letter from the government reminding them to plan their family “before it’s too late”. Macron’s government is attempting to raise awareness about declining fertility and the risks associated with delayed parenthood. The initiative reflects mounting concern within Paris over falling birth rates and long-term demographic collapse. The dystopian decision to remind people they need to have children underscores a broader anxiety spreading across Europe, where population decline is no longer a theoretical projection but an unfolding statistical trend.

Is this scene really becoming a thing of the past

France’s Fertility Collapse in Numbers

The scale of France’s demographic shift becomes clearer when viewed numerically.

According to INSEE (Institut national de la statistique et des études économiques), France’s total fertility rate fell to approximately 1.68 children per woman in 2023, down from 1.84 in 2021 and just above 2.0 in 2010. In 2024, provisional data indicated a further decline toward 1.6, placing France well below the replacement threshold of 2.1.

The number of annual births has also dropped sharply. France recorded around 678,000 births in 2023, compared with over 800,000 annually in the early 2010s. That represents a decline of more than 120,000 births per year within roughly a decade.

The average age of mothers at childbirth has continued to rise, reaching approximately 31 years, compared with under 29 years in the late 1990s. Delayed parenthood has become the norm rather than the exception.

For many years, France stood out within Europe as a demographic exception. Its fertility rate remained significantly higher than that of Germany, Italy or Spain. That advantage has now narrowed considerably. France is converging downward toward broader European patterns.

Until recently, however, overall population growth remained relatively stable. That stability was not driven by rising native birth rates.

Immigration Isn’t Working Anymore

For years, France’s demographic resilience was presented as proof that the country had avoided the collapse seen elsewhere in Europe. In reality, much of that stability rested on sustained immigration rather than a recovery in native birth rates.

According to INSEE, France issued roughly 320,000 first residence permits in 2022, with similarly elevated levels in 2023. A significant share of arrivals came from North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa and parts of the Middle East, through family reunification, asylum and labour migration channels. The foreign-born share of the population has now risen to around 10 percent nationally, and substantially higher in major cities.

This inflow helped maintain headline population growth even as fertility among native-born French women declined. However, migration has always functioned as a demographic supplement, not a structural correction.

Fertility rates among immigrant populations tend to converge toward national averages within one or two generations. That pattern is well established in European demographic research. As overall French fertility falls toward 1.6 children per woman, the offset effect narrows. Migration can slow ageing, but it cannot indefinitely reverse it.

Moreover, immigration does not address the underlying causes of declining family formation among the native population. Housing costs, delayed partnership, career prioritisation and cultural shifts toward smaller families remain unchanged. Bringing in new residents does not restore higher fertility among those already in the country.

The result is that France now faces the limits of demographic substitution. Net migration has postponed sharper population contraction, but it has not rebuilt the birth rate. As fertility falls across both native and immigrant communities, the arithmetic becomes increasingly unforgiving.

France’s decision to directly urge 29-year-olds to consider having children signals recognition that migration alone cannot sustain demographic balance indefinitely. A society cannot import its way out of a cultural transformation in family life.

A Continental Pattern

France’s decline is part of a broader European demographic contraction that is now measurable across nearly every major economy.

According to Eurostat, the European Union’s total fertility rate fell to approximately 1.46 children per woman in 2022, down from 1.53 in 2021 and well below the replacement rate of 2.1. Southern Europe is even lower. Italy’s fertility rate has dropped to around 1.24, while Spain sits near 1.16, among the lowest in the world. Germany, after a brief stabilisation during the mid-2010s, has also fallen back toward roughly 1.4.

Birth numbers tell a similar story. The EU recorded roughly 3.9 million births in 2022, compared with over 5 million annually in the early 2000s. In many countries, the decline has accelerated since the pandemic period.

These trends are occurring alongside rapid population ageing. The old-age dependency ratio across the EU continues to rise, with fewer working-age adults supporting expanding pension and healthcare systems. In countries such as Italy and Germany, median age now exceeds 45, among the highest globally.

Despite differing economic models and welfare systems, nearly every European country faces the same structural challenge: sustained fertility below replacement level. The problem is no longer confined to individual states or temporary downturns. It reflects a continent-wide shift in family formation patterns that policy incentives alone have struggled to reverse.

So, Why is Nobody Having Children?

Europe’s fertility decline reflects a combination of economic strain and cultural change. The average age of first childbirth has risen into the early thirties, narrowing the window for larger families. Longer education, delayed career stability and later partnership formation mean many adults start families later than intended, often resulting in fewer children.

Economic pressures reinforce this delay. Housing costs have surged, secure employment arrives later, and childcare remains expensive. Even in countries with generous family benefits, fertility has continued to fall, suggesting financial incentives alone are not decisive.

Cultural priorities have also shifted. Modern societies increasingly emphasise individual autonomy, mobility and career development. Urban living, smaller homes and weaker extended family networks make raising multiple children more challenging. The result is not necessarily rejection of parenthood, but postponement and downsizing — trends that, across an entire continent, translate into sustained demographic contraction.

When the State Has to Remind You to Reproduce

There is something striking about the image of a government sending letters to 29-year-olds reminding them that their biological clock is ticking. For decades, Western societies framed family planning as a matter of personal autonomy, insulated from state messaging. The fact that a modern European government now feels compelled to intervene directly in the most intimate of life decisions reflects how far demographic anxiety has progressed.

The initiative may be presented as informational, even helpful. Yet it carries an unmistakable undertone of urgency. When birth rates fall to the point that pension systems strain and labour markets contract, reproduction shifts from private choice to public concern. The state’s involvement is no longer abstract through tax credits or childcare subsidies; it becomes personal, targeted and explicit.

The deeper question is not simply whether the letters will work. It is what it says about contemporary society that such a measure appears necessary. A country that once relied on cultural continuity to sustain family life now resorts to administrative reminders. That development suggests a society grappling not only with declining birth rates, but with a broader loss of confidence in the structures that once made family formation feel natural rather than strategic.

Final Thought

France’s decision to formally urge 29-year-olds to consider having children captures the gravity of Europe’s demographic trajectory. Falling fertility, ageing populations and stalled policy fixes have brought the issue out of abstraction and into personal correspondence. Whether such measures can meaningfully alter long-term trends remains uncertain, but the very existence of this campaign underscores that demographic decline is no longer a distant projection — it is a present reality.

They Are Creating Incredibly Bizarre New Technologies For The Dystopian World Of The Future. Written by author Michael Snyder.

Many would argue that we are already living in a dystopian society, but if those that are currently running things get their way our world will soon look far more dystopian than it does now. Over the past few years, we have seen an unprecedented explosion of new technologies. Some of these technologies appear to have the potential to make life better, but others would give those in positions of power the ability to watch us, track us, monitor us and control us like never before. If you are not concerned about what we are now witnessing, that is probably because you haven’t been paying attention.

I have a number of examples that I want to share with you in this article, but I really struggled with how to organize them.

Ultimately, I decided to order them from the least creepy to the most creepy.

So let’s start with palm scanning.

Palm scanners are being deployed at Whole Foods stores all over the country, and once you are enrolled in the system you can literally pay for your groceries by just using your hand…

The palm-recognition system works by linking a user’s payment information with their unique palm print. If you’re an Amazon Prime member, you can also link it with your Prime account — no need to fumble in the Amazon app looking for your in-store code any longer. At Whole Foods, you just hover your palm over the reader once you’re ready to pay and the system will find your Prime account, apply any discounts, and charge the credit card you enrolled with.

A Business Insider journalist decided to give the system a try, and she described what she had to do in order to enroll…

I followed the instructions on the device, first scanning my right palm, then my left, which was optional.

The scanner then prompted me to enter my phone number. Amazon sent me a text with a link to a page asking me to verify my card details with the last four digits of my credit card number and the card’s expiry date. And that was it — it took me to my Amazon One home page, where I can see my linked phone number, Amazon account, and payment method.

That is definitely creepy, but the facial recognition systems that are now being deployed all over the globe are even creepier.

During the G20 meetings that just took place in Brazil, everyone that attended was forced “to pass a biometric validation process by scanning their faces using Serpro’s stand devices”…

Serpro, a Brazilian government data processing agency, is providing a facial recognition system that was used to facilitate the accreditation and validation of delegates to a ministerial meeting of the G20 last week.

During the meeting, which took place on February 21 and 22, attendees were made to pass a biometric validation process by scanning their faces using Serpro’s stand devices, according to a post on the G20 website. Brazil currently holds the G20 presidency, which runs till the end of this year.

Serpro’s system meets the same standard as the biometric authentication equipment deployed in some of Brazil’s airports to enable secure and seamless passenger checks without the need for the physical presentation of documents, according to the G20 announcement.

You may be thinking that since you aren’t a high ranking government official you don’t have anything to worry about.

But it is important to understand that they are setting a precedent.

If they can start getting this technology in place, it will inevitably be adopted by more and more institutions.

And then someday you may wake up and find that you can’t get a job, open a bank account or buy groceries without having your face scanned.

What will you do then?

We are also reaching a point where many people will soon be running around with technology strapped to their faces virtually all the time.

The Apple Vision Pro has been making lots of headlines this month, and Apple is openly telling us that the goal is to “augment reality” on a continual basis…

There’s a lot of pressure on the new Apple Vision Pro, Apple’s long-awaited entry into the world of computers you wear on your face. Apple claims that the Vision Pro, which starts at $3,499, is the beginning of something called “spatial computing,” which basically boils down to running apps all around you. And the company’s ads for it do not hedge that pressure even a little: they show people wearing the Vision Pro all the time. At work! Doing laundry! Playing with their kids! The ambition is enormous: to layer apps and information over the real world — to augment reality.

To me, having a computer strapped to my face doesn’t seem very appealing.

So I am not sure how much this will catch on.

But in the future people may actually have computer chips or even entire computers inside their heads…

Elon Musk says Neuralink’s first human trial participant can control a computer mouse with their brain, nearly one month after having the company’s chip implanted. But details remain sparse, and other companies working on brain-computer interfaces appear to have so far cleared more technological hurdles than Neuralink.

“Progress is good, patient seems to have made a full recovery … and is able to control the mouse, move the mouse around the screen just by thinking,” Musk, who owns the controversial brain chip startup, said in a conversation in an X Spaces event Monday night.

“We’re trying to get as many button presses as possible from thinking, so that’s what we’re currently working on is — can we get left mouse, right mouse, mouse down, mouse up,” he said, “which is kind of needed if you want to click and drag something, you need mouse down and to hold on mouse down.”

As that CNN article states, many companies out there are working on brain chips.

These are the early days, and they will inevitably become a lot more sophisticated.

But no matter how they try to spin this new technology, I am never allowing anyone to put a chip in my head, and you shouldn’t either.

Of course the elite may not even need to put a chip into your head to control you, because mind reading technology is becoming extremely advanced.

For example, just check out what a student at MIT has just come up with…

A Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) student has created a device that allows humans to communicate with machines using our minds – and it truly is incredible.

Arnav Kapur created a device called AlterEgo, which is a wearable type of headset that allows users to communicate with technology without even speaking a word.

This technology is apparently extremely accurate, and it has enabled this student to search the Internet by only using the thoughts in his own head…

The device records signals when the user hears or thinks of a particular word. This information is then sent to machines which use the internet to find the answer.

It’s kind of like having Google in your head, which is pretty damn incredible.

Without speaking, typing or doing anything at all, the device is able to search the internet for the correct answer before feeding back the information via skull vibrations into the inner ear.

Apparently, the answer presents itself in a similar way to a person’s internal voice, but without interfering with their ‘usual auditory perception’.

I am extremely impressed with what he has been able to accomplish.

But this sort of technology is also incredibly dangerous.

Just imagine what a global tyrant could do with this sort of power.

The last example that I want to share with you may not be the most dangerous, but to me it is definitely the most creepy…

A Spanish-Dutch artist is set to marry an AI hologram this summer, with the groundbreaking union ushering in a weird new era of human-robot relationships.

Alicia Framis will marry her holographic partner, AILex, who was trained from the profile information of her previous romantic partners, according to a press release from the artist’s publicity team.

The press release said that the unconventional ceremony will take place at the Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

The ceremony will feature a “unique ritual for the union between a human and an avatar,” and guests will be served “molecular food that can be enjoyed by both humans and humanoid entities,” it said.

This woman really does intend to “marry” an AI hologram.

Sadly, as technology and reality continue to merge, the distinction between what is “real” and what is “digital” will get fuzzier and fuzzier.

As I have discussed previously, we have reached a time in our history when artificial intelligence is progressing at an exponential rate.

If left unchecked, AI will completely turn our world upside down in less than a decade.

Many will eagerly welcome the changes that are happening, but I am entirely convinced that all of this technology is opening a door for horrors that most of us cannot even imagine right now.
