The biotechnology industry has a culture of extreme risk-taking.  And there is a lack of regulation by authorities and a tendency to ignore the dangers of the research biotechnologists are undertaking.

Despite significant gaps in knowledge about genetic functions and potential risks to human health and the environment, biotechnologists are pushing forward with gene editing and synthetic biology.

Take the covid gene therapy injections, called “covid vaccines,” as an example.  Studies have found links between covid vaccination and increased cancer risk, as well as elevated mortality rates. Instead of acknowledging these risks, governments are deregulating biotechnology experimentation.

Dr. Guy Hatchard argues that the industry’s focus on biotechnology solutions is misguided.  Simple, cost-effective approaches like natural diets and exercise have been shown to improve health outcomes.  The billions of dollars spent on biotechnology research would be better spent on promoting these proven natural solutions.

The Long Read: There Is Already Enough Evidence To Design A Health Policy That Works

Introduction

On the 25th January 2026, two men stepped off an arriving plane at Detroit Metropolitan Airport en route from the Congo carrying a black case. At the border, they declared that the case contained instruments, but customs officials found it contained vials of Monkeypox (or Mpox) virus and human DNA in violation of federal law.

Both men worked at the National Institute of Health (“NIH”) Rocky Mountain Laboratory, where one of them was Chief of the Virus Ecology Section in charge of research on “emerging viral pathogens.” Given their seniority, they should have been well aware of the risks, but both men appeared to have difficulty understanding that there are very common circumstances where aeroplane luggage is damaged, potentially exposing passengers and ultimately the public to deadly pathogens. They even protested that what they were doing was routine. This goes to show just how much dangerous behaviour in the biotech research community has become normalised. On 2 June, the two men were indicted on serious criminal charges. 

The incident in Detroit is not an isolated event; a pathological culture of extreme risk has taken hold of the entire biotechnology industry with an entrenched assumption that biotechnology research and many products should be exempt from regulation. In effect, anything goes. In part, this is due to the sense of excitement and hype that surrounds the as-yet-unrealised (and unrealistic) expectation that biotechnology research will ultimately lead to miracle cures for a long list of human diseases and environmental problems.

It is also due to a failure to face up to known serious risks, particularly those that showed up during the covid pandemic.

At its core, the biotechnology industry has an almost messianic belief in its mission to edit life as it sees fit in pursuit of its improbable dreams that are actually fraught with danger for the whole human race. This verges on the psychopathic.

A Little Knowledge Is A Dangerous Thing

Biotechnologists are faced with a long list of unknowns and unknowables that they seem determined to ignore. The foremost of these is how our genome supports our consciousness.* You couldn’t devise a bigger hole in our understanding of life than that. Editing genes before you know how they might affect our ability to think is like sawing through the tree branch on which we sit.

The scale of ignorance about genetic functions is mind-bogglingly huge. Last week, The New York Times interviewed John Glass, a synthetic biologist at the prestigious J. Craig Venter Institute in La Jolla, California, for an article entitled ‘This Cell Feeds, Grows and Reproduces. And It’s Manmade’, Glass said: “Our own DNA contains tens of thousands of genes, as well as millions of molecular switches turning those genes on and off. Scientists barely have a clue as to what many of those pieces of DNA are doing.”

Yet somehow, editing the structure and function of DNA is routinely designated safe and sure to be the only future remedy for ill health.

To begin to get a handle on the vast gaps in our knowledge about genetic function, in the 1990s, a team led by the late biologist Craig Venter began studying the simplest microbe they could find. It had fewer than 1,000 genes. The team, now led by Dr. Glass, went on to strip the microbe’s genome down to 525 essential genes. In 2016, after 26 years of research, the team reported it didn’t know what a third of those genes were doing. Dr. Glass and his colleagues have spent the subsequent decade trying to solve the puzzle (30 years in all), and they still can’t say what 56 of them do. “There are still significant tasks that every cell has to do that we don’t know,” Dr. Glass said.

Diseases Arising From Covid Vaccine Technology Are Being Identified Even Now

An article published in the journal Oncotarget is entitled ‘Covid vaccination and post-infection cancer signals: Evaluating patterns and potential biological mechanisms’. It studied the results of 60 papers linking cancer incidence with Covid vaccination. It identified several recurrent themes: 

1. unusually rapid progression, recurrence, or reactivation of preexisting cancer in remission or previously only slowly developing, 
2. atypical or localised tissue findings, including involvement of vaccine injection sites or regional lymph nodes, and
3. immune system deficiencies associated with vaccination and tumour reactivation.

In other words, there is strong evidence that “covid vaccine-induced turbo cancers” do exist. The study found that cancer occurrence and/or acceleration can develop relatively quickly, in even a matter of weeks, following mRNA vaccination. The authors concluded, “there is a need for rigorous epidemiologic, longitudinal, clinical, histopathological, forensic, and mechanistic studies to assess whether and under what conditions COVID-19 vaccination may be linked with cancer.”

A study published in Medical Research Archives is entitled  ‘Temporal patterns of all-cause mortality among U.S. nursing home residents across covid-19 vaccination strata, May 2022-June 2023’. It analysed mortality patterns in more than 15,000 US nursing homes and found:

“All-cause mortality rates rose during weeks with more covid-19 positive residents. Relative to unvaccinated residents, mortality elevations persisted for about three weeks in partially vaccinated and five weeks in fully vaccinated groups.”

In other words, covid-vaccinated rest home residents were affected by elevated mortality rates following covid infection for far longer than unvaccinated residents.

Elevated mortality associated with covid vaccination is not limited to rest home residents. Steve Kirsch, writing on Substack, notes that covid national vaccination programmes were followed by peaks in all-cause mortality among all age groups in countries across the globe. In other words, covid vaccination not only didn’t work, but it came with unquantified risks to health and life. Unquantified because biotechnology scientists across the globe are reluctant to admit that they got anything wrong during the pandemic. Counterfactual findings are simply ignored if they don’t fit the rosy future paradigm of biotechnology hype.

Forging Ahead To Make Artificial Life Out Of Viral DNA

The New York Times reports that a team of synthetic biologists at the University of Minnesota have succeeded in throwing together a mixture of proteins, simple molecules that are known to operate in natural cells, and 36 genes extracted from bacteria and viruses to produce a kind of artificial cell that competes for food and reproduces itself through a lab-enforced process that mimics cell division. There are some severe limitations; the cells can’t make their own proteins, known as ribosomes, which read the DNA to produce proteins, and they cease functioning entirely within 5 to 10 generations. Biotechnologists are so excited that they plan to spend hundreds of millions of dollars further developing these synthetic cells dubbed SpudCells. 

It is believed that at some time in the future these cells will be used to eat up the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. The cell’s inventors have already warned that someone may use artificial cells to create a biological weapon. Step back and consider, fragments of DNA culled from pathogenic bacteria and viruses are being given a new lease of life in artificial cells. All this is happening while scientists don’t know how these synthetic cells might interact with the natural environment and what the extent of the risks might be. Perhaps they might out-compete natural cells essential to maintain ecological stability or human health. No one knows or can even begin to predict what might happen. And those involved still want the freedom to self-regulate their experimentation.

Apparently in sympathy, poorly informed legislators across the globe are rushing to deregulate biotechnology experimentation under the mistaken idea that it has already saved lives and will usher in an era of economic prosperity. The latest to go down this rabbit hole is the EU, which is deregulating biotechnology using the infantile “Simon Says” justification – other countries are doing it, so we should too.

In New Zealand (“NZ”), the National Party is fuming because its attempt to pass a Gene Technology Bill that mandated NZ approval if any other countries did, has been frustrated by its coalition partner NZ First, which asked some inconvenient questions about safety, science and economic miracles. Segueing to avoid this roadblock, National is already in the process of amending existing legislation and regulations to open the back door to largely unfettered gene experimentation. What could possibly go wrong, given the huge holes in our understanding of genetic functions, almost everything? 

Take the case of the Tunisian soccer team at the World Cup in Mexico. Eight players tested positive for a banned synthetic bodybuilding substance, clenbuterol.  This was not secretly administered to the team or deliberately ingested by the players. On investigation, it was found that the substance is approved in Mexico and routinely given to animals. Thereby, it accumulates in meat in the food chain, in concentrations sufficient to trigger drug tests. Clenbuterol significantly alters genetic expression by binding to β₂-adrenergic receptors. Thereby, it sets intracellular cascades in motion that turn specific genes associated with metabolism on or off. You can immediately see that predicating gene regulation on what other countries do can rapidly lead to genetic pollution in the world’s food chain. In fact, this is already happening on a grand scale and needs to stop.

Biotechnology Has Become Too Big To Fail

Over the last few weeks, we have been publishing articles at the Hatchard Report and on our Substack page which examine recent research and established theoretical principles which point to the central role of consciousness in biological processes. This should not seem strange to anyone; awareness is the central substance of our daily existence. Observer, observed and the process of observation are linked together within the wholeness of our being. As we pointed out in our articles ‘How does DNA actually work?’ and ‘The Structure of Consciousness’,* this three-in-one structure forms a kind of intelligence which cannot be mimicked by AI. How our DNA supports the expression of consciousness is unknown, yet the biotechnology juggernaut continues to believe it has discovered the standalone secret of life in the DNA code.

When Galileo saw the moons of Jupiter through his telescope, the self-appointed guardians of science embedded in the church hierarchy looked through the lens and said they saw nothing. The rich world of consciousness-based medicine that lies behind and beyond the incomplete paradigm of DNA is being ignored, despite the evidence of its high efficacy building up. A wicked leader in antiquity is recorded as saying, “I know what is right but I can’t bring myself to do it; I know what is wrong but I can’t refrain from it.”There comes a point in every incomplete scientific paradigm when progress can only be made when its inadequacies are admitted. Eventually, after a period of crisis, this old order will be overtaken by revolutionary new ideas. We only hope that realisation dawns before biotechnology mistakes like those of the covid era again engulf the world.

What Are The Health Problems Biotechnology Is Promising To Solve and How Can They Actually Be Solved?

The leading causes of mortality worldwide come from the threat of chronic non-communicable diseases like heart disease, cancer, diabetes and respiratory illness. Other major illnesses include infectious diseases like HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, dengue, ebola and recurring viral outbreaks which pose massive public health threats.

Mental ill health and substance abuse have surged globally. Environmental problems like food security, air quality and access to clean water are particularly associated with poverty and displacement.

You are probably aware of studies that we have extensively reported which have shown that many, if not most, of these conditions became elevated during the covid pandemic, driven by either covid infection, which is now almost universally recognised as emerging from a biotechnology laboratory, or by adverse reactions to covid vaccination. Relying on biotechnology experimentation to save the world and cure disease is not a safe bet. 

Moreover, the biotechnology industry has become heavily involved with global food production and processing. Ultra-processed foods are linked to ill health, along with agri-chemicals, and crops now almost universally contain genetically modified components. In contrast, diets rich in natural, fresh foods are linked with improved health and increased longevity. Likewise, exercise, fresh air, sunshine and clean water. These are the components of a healthy society that the biotech industry is wantonly polluting with genetically modified components.

As we have reported extensively, simple meditation* is linked with holistic improvements in health outcomes. This is because consciousness plays a holistic leading role in human physiology. For example a five year study of the health insurance utilisation of 2000 people practicing transcendental meditation published in 1987 found inpatient admissions per 1000 were lower for the TM group than the norm for all of 17 major medical treatment categories, including -55.4% for benign and malignant tumours -87.3% for heart disease, -30.4% for all infectious diseases, -30.6% for all mental disorders, and -87.3% for diseases of the nervous system. Numerous other studies since have found comparable results, including recent research finding biomarkers of younger biological age among meditators. 

Note from The Exposé: The word “meditation” is a catch-all phrase to describe a variety of types and techniques.  A number of these are religion-based.  Dr. Guy Hatchard has previously promoted Transcendental Meditation practised in Hinduism, as if it were spiritually innocent and a scientific fact (see HERE). Religion-based meditation and incantations or chanting are not innocent; unless we are dwelling on God (YHWH) or God’s word (the Bible), religion-based meditation attracts spirits of the wrong kind who will seek to interfere with your life in any way that they can. Incantations and chanting can be used as methods of indoctrination or brainwashing; be cautious about using any meditation techniques that require these rituals.  God does not require us to perform rituals; all He requires is that we have faith in Him, the one true God, who is one God but three Persons: God the Father (YHWH, Yahweh, Adonai, Jehovah), God the Son (Jesus, Yeshua, the Christ, the Messiah) and God the Holy Spirit.

In conclusion, there are well-tested and cost-effective drivers of improved health known to science which are being ignored in favour of dangerous and expensive biotechnology interventions being developed by an industry whose knowledge base is limited and whose primary driver is profit before people. Billions of dollars being spent on biotechnology research, including government funding, private investment and corporate profits, would be better spent on promoting proven natural solutions. Numerous studies show there would be an instant improvement in mental and physical public health outcomes, quality of life and well-being for all age groups – children, adults and the retired. Governments have been sidetracked by baseless promises; it’s time to get real.

The rise of biotechnology and AI has created a new religion that promises a better life, but in reality, it poses significant risks to human health and freedom.

Dr. Guy Hatchard explains more by demonstrating how what is happening in the USA is also about to happen in New Zealand if the Gene Technology Bill is passed.

The Bill automates the adoption of gene technology, allowing for the rapid introduction of untested and harmful products, such as RNA-sprayed crops and aerosolised vaccines, as proposed by companies like Flagship Pioneering and EcoHealth Alliance in the USA.

The combination of AI and biotechnology is leading to unfettered experimentation on human populations, with the potential for catastrophic consequences, he warns.

The Unthinking Faith in Biotechnology and AI

In his 2017 book ‘The Strange Death of Europe’, Douglas Murray argues that we have lost our sense of purpose. Fuelled by rational and scientific criticism (including concepts of social Darwinism), which developed in the nineteenth century, people have gradually lost faith in their religious and cultural traditions.

Especially over the last five years, a new faith in so-called miracle technology has arisen to fill the void left by the demise of spiritual meaning. The tenets of this new technological religion extend to artificial intelligence and biotechnology, which are together forcing their way into every facet of our existence.

The promise of immortality through miracle medical drugs, a computer-controlled life free of drudgery and a level of military preparedness sufficient to keep the enemy from the borders is proving to be irresistible.

As Murray would no doubt tell us, the reality is rather different. For the first time in human history outside of wartime, life expectancy is declining, daily life has become harder and more uncertain, while each year, the borders are more porous and difficult to police. This article examines where we are really heading.

We Are In Danger of Losing the Fight for the Right To Choose

If you are still hoping to win the battle against the usual suspects – including processed foods, glyphosate, fluoridation, arms manufacturers and vaccine mandates – think again, because the goal posts of the technological battlefield are being rapidly moved. This week, New Zealand’s Health Select Committee is due to report on the Gene Technology Bill, its implications are set to radically change our lives, sufficient to challenge any pre-existing sense of normality. As you probably already know, a clause in the Bill automates the adoption of gene technology (emphasis added):

Mandatory medical activity authorisations: for a human medicine that is or contains gene technology that has been approved by at least two recognised overseas gene technology regulators.

Just what this will mean for us became very clear this week because of measures approved in the US, which, under the New Zealand Gene Technology Bill, we would be required to automatically adopt.

According to a 1 July press release from Flagship Pioneering (the biotechnology firm that founded Moderna and enjoys close ties with multiple US Government agencies), it has launched a new company called Terrana Biosciences to spray crops with RNA, designed to “actually go inside the plant,” move through its internal systems, persist under extreme environmental conditions, and become “heritable across plant generations,” using synthetic RNA constructs generated from “a vast library of RNAs” built with “advanced AI and computational models.”

In other words, it plans to pollute our entire food chain.

In another development, EcoHealth Alliance’s DEFUSE proposal to the US Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency (“DARPA”) is under renewed scrutiny for detailing plans to spray aerosolised chimeric coronavirus spike proteins, immune modulators and self-spreading vaccines over human and animal populations using drones.

You may remember that EcoHealth Alliance is the company that initiated the gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology laboratory that almost certainly resulted in the creation of covid-19.

The new alliance between artificial intelligence (“AI”) and biotechnology experimentation means that tens of thousands of experiments investigating novel genetic combinations can be rapidly and simultaneously initiated. Dwarfing previous research and multiplying the risks. The current global push of the biotechnology industry is to ensure these projects can go ahead without obstructive regulation. In other words, we are entering an era of unfettered experimentation on human populations.

The PREP Act empowers the US government to secretly administer such drugs and vaccines, biological products, and medical devices to the public during a declared emergency – without consent, geographic limits, legal accountability or any obligation to disclose such actions.

The New Zealand Gene Technology Bill has a parallel provision:

Emergency authorisations: when there is an actual or imminent threat to the health and safety of people or to the environment, for example, threat from a disease outbreak, or an industrial spillage, the Minister responsible for the Gene Technology Act will have the power to grant an emergency authorisation.

From this, you can see just how quickly alarming invasive biotechnology medical and agricultural products approved in the US, such as the above, will be reciprocally authorised in New Zealand if the Gene Technology Bill passes.

How Is This Happening to Us, and Why Do the General Public Appear to be Unconcerned?

Let’s take a breath, step back for a moment and consider that the potent combination of AI and biotechnology has assumed a central role in a new political, quasi-scientific, medical and social ideology that during the pandemic elevated itself to the status of a faith.

The acceptance it enjoys and the control it exerts over populations is not due to the kind of totalitarian measures that Hitler or Stalin wielded, but rather to the projection of a captivating but false narrative of a bright future if you comply. Something worthy of the dystopian visions of the wholly compliant technological societies described by Orwell and Huxley.

In essence, the central mistake in the new faith involves the confluence of two completely false ideas:

1) The origin and meaning of life are entirely contained in a sequence of genetic letters in a single molecule (DNA) which can be safely edited and manipulated to make all aspects of life better. This is an impoverished vision of life that fails to account for either consciousness or the known real-world adverse effects of gene editing.

2) Computers, which are unconscious and only have access to data and algorithms that have been input during the information age, can make better and safer decisions than wakeful human minds. An absurdly uninformed dismissal of human genius and potential.

This new faith involves leaving common sense behind (as well as reason and rationality) whilst rushing towards the flame like a moth.

An article in the UK Guardian entitled ‘Demand for weight loss drugs is becoming unsustainable, say pharmacists’ illustrates just how many people have adopted the new religion. A survey found that in addition to the one million Brits currently paying privately to take weight loss injections Ozempic, Mounjaro and Wegovy, a further 21% have tried to get hold of them during the last year (that’s 10 million people). This figure spirals to 35% among 18 to 35-year-olds. Capping that, the survey found that a staggering 65% of 25 to 34-year-olds would use them if they were free on the NHS.

The vast majority of these people are not clinically overweight; they are simply “worried well”and apparently unaware of the very common and very serious adverse effects of the injections.

Equally alarming is the rapid adoption of AI in education. An article in The New York Times entitled ‘AI-Driven Education: Founded in Texas and Coming to a School Near You’ reports that a method of schooling children solely through artificial intelligence is set to be replicated across the country this fall. This is the latest facet of educational computerisation that is putting children in front of screens rather than human teachers and denying them crucial socialisation skills while suppressing their ability to think critically. The move in part reflects the lobbying by Big Tech companies which is cutting red tape surrounding the implementation of AI technology. Something that has the full support of Trump’s AI Action Plan.

A couple of years ago, I was talking with the teenage son of a neighbour who told me that everybody in his high school uses AI to write their assignments. Just how damaging this can be is illustrated by an investigation undertaken by The Guardian. A business school professor from Sweden confirmed to The Guardian: “While companies are using AI to reduce costs, students are using it for all uni [university] work and to replace thinking, and are subsequently de-optimising themselves for future jobs.”

“Being able to write well and think coherently were basic requirements in most graduate jobs 10, 15 years ago,” said a senior recruitment professional at a large consultancy firm from London. “Now, they are emerging as basically elite skills. Almost nobody can do it. We see all the time that people with top degrees cannot summarise the contents of a document, cannot problem solve.”

Various employers and professionals in HR and management positions interviewed by The Guardian reported that university leavers they encountered often struggled to speak on the phone or in meetings, take notes with a pen, relay messages precisely or complete written tasks without internet access. In other words, they are all but unemployable and unsuited to the jobs they aspire to.

Fortunately, acceptance of new technology is not universal; at least there is some dissent. Following the pandemic, those with doubts and reservations are certainly a significant minority. Unfortunately, there are ways of bypassing or fooling the non-compliant.

The prophets and guardians of the new religion are not only from technology fields but also from the media, politics and health who, between them, control the mainstream narrative and take decisions on behalf of the many.

Whether they can rise to assume totalitarian control depends on provisions in the Gene Technology Bill which aim to prevent the public from knowing what they are eating or being exposed to. It will do so by falsely classifying most gene editing as equivalent to natural processes and also failing to mandate gene product labelling. In other words, the Bill is promising us the earth but denying us information about what will actually happen to us and the known serious risks involved.

The Dangers Should Be Obvious, But The New Faith Is Blind To The Truth

That covid-19 vaccines were neither safe nor effective should have been obvious to those who received them and then contracted covid-19 time and again.

Covid-19 mRNA injections were clearly undeserving of the title “vaccine,” they prevented little or nothing and left millions of people sick or dead, but the World Health Organisation (“WHO”) public narrative turned these simple personal experiences and assessments on their head, wrongly assuring us that 14.4 million people escaped death as a result of covid-19 vaccination.

Last week, a paper published by JAMA reduced the WHO estimate to 2.5 million, but it still wasn’t anywhere near the whole truth. Examine for a moment the cumulative excess deaths in Japan, for example, as reported by Our World in Data.

There is no inkling here that biotechnology saved any lives whatsoever – it took lives. Whether these were the result of a biotechnology-generated disease or a biotechnology-generated vaccine is immaterial. 350,000 Japanese excess deaths up to February 2024 and rising steeply. If the trend has continued since, the total will have pushed up towards 600,000 by the present time. Around 0.5% of the population has been swept away, greater than forty times the toll of the 2011 tsunami.

A press conference called this month by a large group of concerned scientists pointed out that peaks in excess deaths among 21 million official health records correspond neatly to a period of 90-120 days following covid-19 vaccination and boosters – a time series approach to data analysis which offers the strongest statistical proof of causality yet.

The risks to the whole structure of Western civilisation should be obvious, but somehow, we are sleepwalking to disaster. We need to wake up. I’ll say that again: we need to wake up from a nightmare. Waking up has become a vital survival strategy in the modern world.

When the communist dream became an obvious economic and social failure, those in charge prioritised their personal comfort and wealth at the expense of their people. We have reached a similar stage; the biotechnology research programmes we cited earlier show that the failed mRNA technology is being repackaged in a way that ensures everyone’s exposure, whether we assent or not, whether through the food we eat or from the skies.

Since the technology doesn’t work and provably takes lives, the whole endeavour must be solely to satisfy a voracious appetite for profit or possibly an apocalyptic urge to spread suffering and death. Neither of which are strangers to the technological world in which spiritual endeavour and experience are undervalued.

In the modern technological world, we should not forget that there are people seeking to defraud us by editing and degrading the precise natural, holistic genetic structure of our DNA, which supports the capacity of our body to maintain health and our mind to know and value the truth. A nightmare which must be ended.

Last week, New Zealand’s Royal Commission into the COVID-19 Lessons Learned Phase Two undermined witnesses raising concerns about covid vaccine adverse effects, despite published scientific evidence. 

In the following, Dr. Guy Hatchard describes the significant relationship between the covid vaccine rollout and increased all-cause deaths in New Zealand and suggests that biotechnology experimentation, including gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology laboratory, is the ultimate cause of these excess deaths.  “Biotechnology experimentation is not saving lives; it is taking them,” he says.

New Zealand’s Royal Commission into the covid pandemic Phase Two is focused on reviewing key decisions made by the government during 2021 and 2022, particularly regarding the use of vaccines, lockdowns, and testing and tracing technologies – “to be even better prepared for future pandemics.”

The report for Phase One was released in late November 2024.  Public hearings for Phase Two began on 7 July 2025.  The Commission is expected to deliver its Phase Two report by 26 February 2026.

In a statement to announce Phase Two, Inquiry Chair Professor Tony Blakely and Commissioner John Whitehead said, “We would like to acknowledge the tremendous contribution made by the many individuals, communities, and organisations … and the thousands of people who shared their experiences and feedback … Thank you for trusting us with your COVID-19 experience.”

After reading Dr. Hatchard’s article below, we think they’ll find that people have not trusted them with their “covid-19 experience.”  They have done what good citizens should do: engage with the democratic process in the hope that the truth will be uncovered.  The citizens have done their duty; the Commission should now do theirs.

Who is to Blame?

The concerning spectacle last week of the public hearings of the Royal Commission on the covid pandemic Phase Two deserves some analysis.

The counsels for the Commission appeared determined to undermine or even attack the credibility of witnesses raising concerns about the covid vaccine. Clearly, the published scientific evidence of adverse effects was not being taken seriously or had not yet been studied in detail. At one point, the Commission’s counsel suggested that the temporal association between the vaccination date and adverse effects, including deaths, was insufficient to prove causality. The apparent intention was to create doubt when, actually, there is virtual scientific certainty. Those giving evidence acquitted themselves well despite being deliberately restricted from citing examples. However, inevitably, we were left with the perception, real or not, that those guiding the Commission process had already made up their minds, if not the Commissioners themselves.

The Raw Official Figures for All Cause Deaths in New Zealand

During 2020 and most of 2021, there were virtually zero cases of covid infection in New Zealand. This was well controlled by tight border closures, quarantine, lockdowns, and efficient track and tracing. As a result, New Zealand largely escaped the more serious alpha and delta variants of covid. We also escaped seasonal influenza. Therefore, all cause deaths in 2020 were well below the historical average, more than 2,000 below the expected number. Near identical measures continued for the majority of 2021, except for Pfizer mRNA covid vaccinations, which began in March. There was little covid and little influenza in 2021, but deaths rose in tandem with the vaccine rollout to pre-pandemic levels and above.

Was this caused by the vaccinations? There are many indications that this was the case. The Hatchard Report completed a time series analysis comparing weekly vaccinations and all-cause deaths among over 60s in 2021 and found a positive, significant relationship. This effect size is commensurate with the data on deaths leaked by Health New Zealand IT employee turned whistle-blower, Barry Young. Peaks of deaths correspond with peaks in vaccination rates. In 2022 and 2023, this kind of correspondence continued during the peak administration of covid vaccine boosters. Multiple subsequent published scientific studies in a number of journals and countries have connected covid vaccination with increases in a range of potentially fatal conditions, including heart conditions, immune deficiency, mental deterioration and neurological illness. All of these papers have been submitted to the Commission.

As time rolled on, excess deaths beyond the historical rates continued at high levels and accumulated. By 2022, the cumulative totals far outweighed any effect of the low death rate in 2020. By 2025, the cumulative total of excess deaths now stands at 7,348, even after the effect of a rising population is accounted for. No one on either side of the argument disputes this total. The number of deaths directly caused by covid during the period 2020 to 2025 is estimated to be around 3,000. So, what caused the other approximately 4,000 deaths? Herein lies the central misunderstanding which surfaced during the Commission hearings. For various reasons, some people still feel against accumulating evidence that almost all the New Zealand excess deaths must have been covid infection-related, rather than due to adverse effects of covid vaccinations. The Commissioners and their counsels, who are not scientifically qualified, may find themselves caught between these two opposing views which are being vigorously promoted, not just in New Zealand but around the world, by their respective proponents.

Let’s pause here and step back to the bigger picture. Intelligence services around the world, along with a significant cohort of independent expert scientific opinion, have concluded from the epidemiological evidence and genetic analysis of the covid virus that it originated at and escaped from a virology laboratory in Wuhan, China. Whether this is beyond doubt or almost certain is immaterial at this point; the implications of this need to be considered very seriously. It is certainly now established that researchers at Wuhan were conducting gain-of-function research to make deadly versions of coronaviruses. They apparently succeeded. If this is the case, as seems highly probable, all 7,348 excess deaths in New Zealand were caused by biotechnology experimentation. In this light, the pyrotechnics at the Royal Commission hearings last week appear to be the result of an immature understanding of what is at stake. The counsels for the Commission were attacking witnesses with whom they should have been taking common cause. Whether it was the vaccine or covid or both, it was all caused by biotechnology experimentation. From this perspective, all 5 million of us are victims.

Moreover, the current initiative of the New Zealand government to deregulate biotechnology appears to be a disastrous course of action. We need to dig deeper into this to find out how it is that our nation, which has just lost, and is still losing, many of our best, has been left with a population divided and blaming each other while our government is rewarding the real culprits with extra plaudits, powers, freedoms, resources and money. There are even some who submitted to or appeared before the Commission who suggested that the protections contained in the New Zealand Bill of Rights were and are an impediment to Government policy. This is a perspective worthy of 1930s Germany which should be opposed and rejected outright.

If you sit down with a mind uncluttered by the pressures of the last few years, it is clear that some biotechnologists were recklessly and deliberately creating a deadly disease. The risks involved should have been clear even to a passing evaluation. In this light, we have to conclude that those involved were not just criminals but rather had a complete disregard for the safety of the human race. They were prepared to endanger its survival. But it wasn’t just a few people; gain-of-function research was being widely undertaken and still is. Embedded within the biotechnology industry is a desire to push experimentation in reckless directions far beyond the boundaries of current knowledge and in the face of obvious risks. Moreover, it is widely known that the consequences of genetic modification cannot be contained, recalled or remediated.

It seems there are people living in plain sight within our society for whom the risk or, in some cases, even the desirability of disaster, death and destruction have become normalised. This is certainly true of the armaments industry and now appears true of what is wrongly paraded as a new wave of beneficial medical biotechnology fraught with high rates of adverse effects, including death and long-term serious consequences. The linkage between military strategy and biotechnology experimentation is known. In April 2024, a team of biodefence experts gathered in Washington, D.C., to prepare for the unthinkable – biowarfare on a global scale. Yet around the world, we are being schooled to believe that those involved are our saviours.

Behind the theatre of the Royal Commission hearings, there is a lesson to be learned. Biotechnology experimentation is not saving lives; it is taking them. These are strong words, but there are hard facts in need of rational discussion and recognition. So far, it seems the Commission is not capable of entertaining this central lesson of the pandemic.

The Hatchard Report has requested a meeting with the Commissioners but received no reply.
